Candy Inn is a very nice, single bedroom accommodation hotel. It is in a pleasant neighbourhood close to the metro station but not in the middle of the overly crowded downtown. It has free wifi, a lounge and staff that speak fairly excellent English

That …

Summer Palace Day

Delayed reaction--when I woke up this morning my legs were killing me!  The Great Wall and the steps at the Forbidden City did me in.  I had the breakfast buffet at the hotel.  I tried and loved the fish cakes.  Despite my leg pain, I was determined not to waste any time in Beijing and  to continue with my plans to visit the Summer Palace.  I'm ...

DAY ONE From August 3 to 13, we were in the fabulous vibrant city of Beijing. From the minute I arrived, I fell in love with the place right away. As we approached the Beijing airport, the view was unbelievably beautiful, I wanted to cry. There were layer and layer of mountain peaks covered in mist. We could see the Great Wall very clearly from ...

Me and CCTV - May 15

Hey everyone, I told someone recently that my life tends to take bizarre and random turns. This week has done little to dispel this notion and has, on the contrary, only confirmed it. So here is the Tuesday to Thursday recap. Tuesday: Once again I will let the photos speak for themselves. I took the bus to Tiananmen Square and had a really fanta...

Christmas in Beijing

Merry Christmas, and sorry it's been so long since I posted an update! Spending Christmas in China was definitely a unique experience. It was weird not being home, especially being in a country where it's not actually that important of a holiday- they don't get time off of school or work, so you kind of have to take it upon yourself to make the ...
