... began shopping. I had a list in the backpack on my back but I did not use it. I prefer to wander around lost for a while and wait until I figure out how to do without before I get an item. So I followed people and picked up things that I remembered needing. I selected a laundry detergent because they gave me a free bag and I knew that I would pay for any bag the store provided. Then I bought wash cloths, a 6 outlet thingie (what are they called when they aren’t protectors ...

... two days we could split up the route during our two days that we had to sightsee…perfect! The bus tickets also included free ferry transfers over and back so with that taken care of we set off to explore.

The bus itself was the very familiar red double decker style with an open top and since the weather was beautiful that day we opted to sit upstairs to get a better view of the city. The route we chose took us through a corner of the city and then headed out ...

... pagoda was under construction - rather disappointing. Next to the garden there's the Chi Lin Nunnery, which was established in 1934 and shows off some very nice wooden architecture.

Up next was the Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin temple, which is one of the biggest and most popular temples in Hong Kong. The temple is also quite unique since it houses all three major religions: Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism. People come here with a small box of sticks, each of which ...

Monday I tried to do some siteseeing in Hong Kong. I met my roommate for the tour and we decided to go to Ngong Ping to see the Big Buddha. After queuing for tickets for half an hour we got in line to ride the cable car, a 25 minute ride to the village of Ngong Ping. After about an hour wait, the cable cars stopped running due to thunderstorms in the vicinity. We decided to get ...

... we can't do anything about it so we had dinner, using our 10$ (yep a whole 10$) voucher to pay for some of it. We are now charging devices and waiting for our gate and plane to appear. We are hoping to get to Toronto before the scheduled time of 12:10am so that we can get through customs and make it on the 12:30am plane to Ottawa. Otherwise I guess we are going to be put up in a hotel and get a flight tomorrow sometime.

        Until next time...
