... Corte de Vasari, and the friendly Federico comes out to meet us, and takes the bikes though the building to a safe place - better than last year when we had to lock them in a lane. After a shower and a spell, we go for a passeggiata around this stunning village, and end up having dinner at a restaurant we have not visited before. Helen loves her Farro salad, and my cinghiale al coltello pasta (wild boar cut with a knife) is very tasty with un mezzo litre di vino ...

A typical Italian breakfast, where fortunately we have arrive early enough for the precooked omelettes to be warm, includes packets of cereal, cakes, cheese and ham. We are offered seconds of expresso and cappuccino. The proprietor fusses over us as we leave. This would be a terrific hotel for a group of cyclists. We ride down the driveway and the imposing front gates into the narrow winding lanes of the town, ...

Just happened that there was a market on Thursday and what a surprise to see so many people in this wee town. It certainly took me by surprise as I thought it would be quite deserted. Its a walled city with too many churches to count and the ones we went into were all so decorated with beautiful paintings ...

Today we travelled up the coast to Sirolo which is just down from Ancona and it was picturesque all the way. Tiny Italians towns on hilltops with large churches dominating the town. All along the coast is built up and it seems to be a continuous city but with lovely house colours that are set off with the blue of the ocean in the background. The litter seems to have gone mostly for now which is great to see. We are in the National Park of Conero and this area is the Riviera of ...

... couple days after that. There was a pool, fresh fruit from the garden, and of course, delicious home cooked Italian meals. It was such a fun and relaxing week and we could not be more grateful to have had this opportunity here in Italy. We have been so lucky and we're not sure why, but hoping it ...
