Then a big dust storm hit, reducing visibility and sending huge tumbleweeds across the road. Passed groves of pecan trees and arrived at Deming, the middle of nowhere with 15 RV parks and numerous motels.

A little side note -- Sassy, unfortunately, has not adjusted to Mountain Time. At home she typically wakes up at 5:30 A.M. and starts meowing to get everyone (i.e. me) up -- here that means 3:30 A.M. Uurrgghhh! What will that mean when we get to Pacific Time?

Rosa winery, one of NM’s largest… walked out with a case of reds and ready for nap; (Planning a Habersham wine taste of New Mexico); also got some great info from the server on places in the area to visit. We will do some misc. back road touring. So clearly we are not quite ready to move on to the Carlsbad Caverns… we will take a week and camp at the City of Rocks, unusual volcanic rock formations and White Sands National Park near Alamogordo, NM.
