Once we hit the 60 mile mark, we were thinking, what a nice, leisurely mountain ride, lots of twists and turns, some riding near the edge, but nothing too difficult. Then we saw the sign: "All vehicles over 40 ft, turn around now" and we knew we had come to the fun part of the ride. And sure enough, just as we had hoped, ...

So back to Las Cruces and then through Deming, New Mexico as we headed north to City of Rocks State Park. As we ...

A little side note -- Sassy, unfortunately, has not adjusted to Mountain Time. At home she typically wakes up at 5:30 A.M. and starts meowing to get everyone (i.e. me) up -- here that means 3:30 A.M. Uurrgghhh! What will that mean when we get to Pacific Time?

... Rosa winery, one of NM’s largest… walked out with a case of reds and ready for nap; (Planning a Habersham wine taste of New Mexico); also got some great info from the server on places in the area to visit. We will do some misc. back road touring. So clearly we are not quite ready to move on to the Carlsbad Caverns… we will take a week and camp at the City of Rocks, unusual volcanic rock formations and White Sands National Park near Alamogordo, NM.
