So, again with a lot of creativity it was repaired. The rod was broken cleanly at the two cracks, a thread was cut into each of the ends (the pushrod is hollow) and a bolt of appropriate size was given a longer thread and its head was removed to create a pair of studs to rejoin and reinforce the pushrod.
