Today started sunny and we set off walking. Walked up hill and then down to the edge of Lake Derwentwater, to Hawes End, then along the shore to High Brandle How. Beautiful scenery of hills and the lake, but got wetter and wetter.

... candy (UK flavored mnm's) in a McFlurry. Nom Nom! This is an awesome happening town and I am glad to be able to hang around these parts for a few weeks, even though I'll be a few miles out of town. The WWOOF host is meeting me at 4:00 today to take me back to the farm and show me my area and tour of the grounds (AKA rape and murder me in their barn in the boonies :P).

Following a lively night out, it was a slow start this morning. The sun was working hard to tempt me out and after getting a couple of loads of washing on the line I succumbed.

First, a drive to Grange golf club and a lovely gentle walk up to the 'Hospice' on Hampsfell with Nadine and her niece, Eleanor. The 360 views were fabulous today. Eleanor enjoyed using the view finder on the monument to spot Ulverston and Coniston Old Man. I enjoyed the butties Nadine ...

... on the lakes or, at the least, strolls with their dogs in all weathers, as it always rains here. Every other person leading a dog! Did some shopping and then home. Theresa and I did another 2 km walk before dinner. Numerous walks in all directions, all neatly signposted as public walks through farms, over hills and along rivers and streams. I arrived to the campsite in town with exhaustion looming over me. The campsite was the nicest one that I have stayed at, but unfortunately also the most expensive. As I took the most needed soothing shower of my life, I noticed a flyer on the wall. There were so many pubs in town that the one at the lower end needed to compete and offered two pound pints! ...and so "The White Lion" became ...
