... decorations everywhere. We made our way to the forest, where palm trees and tree ferns actually grow outside in England. We crossed a Burmese Rope Bridge and then made our way to the veg gardens and flower beds. This was a magic place and it was only discovered about 20 years ago. Apparently the gardens are about 200 years old but had been overtaken by brambles…nice recovery poms!

There are scores of old stone chimneys in Cornwall, marking the numerous disused silver and tin mines in the area. The countryside is bleak and wind blown, like the West coasts of Scotland, Wales and Ireland, but very beautiful. Lots of stone fences, rocky farmlands and no trees at all.
