... we get off...his response right here! So we jumped off the bus and he waved to us as he drove off (we make friends quite easily around here haha). So we started walking towards the lake...it was gorgeous!! The mountains across the lake in the background...the beautiful blue lake all around us....awww it was sooo relaxing. We took this opportunity of no one around to just hang out and relax, as well as take tons of pictures! Once we had ...

Closed in November, but I want to go Back

Hello everyone,

This story starts with KB and I on our first and only sleepin car experience... From Rome to Interlaken... it was interestin, fun and well we made it! There were 6 of us in the sleepin car, it was tight, but at least me got a bed, we both had the middle beds... there was an old lady on the train that was funny... when she snored she sounded like a tiger purring! I think KB enjoyed it!
We arrived in Interlaken early ...

... The Hills Are Alive". You wouldn't fret looking like an idiot, because only the cows would be watching. That's the main industry at Gimmelwald, farming cows. The town is VERY tiny. Their park was about 10'x8' with 2 opposing benches. I agree with Steve that it's worth a quick visit, but don't know about that whole "If Heaven Isn't What It's Cracked Up To Be..." thing. I can think of other places I'd prefer to spend eternity as about one ...

Switzerland Day 4 World Cup Skiing

... the hotel and I was at the Baren. A seat in the non smoking section was surprising as most of Switzerland is smoky. Most other counties in Europe have converted to non smoking inside which surprises me as Europe seems to have a larger proportion of smokers than back home. A great meal of potato soup, pork loin in mushroom sauce and noodles. Full and tired after a busy day, back to the room for the night. Tomorrow back to the World Cup and more of the mountains.

A relaxing day

Today was a rest day again, to adjust to the jet lag. Everyone slept in, and awoke to Gregor making a brunch for all of us. It was great to see the meats and cheese that we savored from the last trip. Later in the day we went up the mountain called Rottehorn, where the kids and ...

Heading to the Swiss mountains

... wateringly expensive so there was not much point in paying to travel around if we were not going to see anything. We did manage to do some walking, although we got a bit wet one day, and we saw the trummelbachfalle, a glacier feed waterfall that has cut a deep canyon in the valley wall, and because of the rain the water was thundering through it!

Alpine Idyll

... The railway trip up was incredible as it tunnels over 9 km through the mountain. Switzerland is just incredibly beautiful as we hope the pictures get across. It has its cons, for instance the hideous expensiveness of everything - but well worth the natural beauty. Well thats it for now. Weather may prevent hiking tomorrow so we might be heading to Bern and Luzern.

More beauty in the Alps

... to... thus the late updates from us (from Florence now). During the day in Gimmelwald the main attraction is "wandering" as the locals call it. The mountains and valley are criss crossed with these little trails that make it feel like you are the Von Trapp family or William Wallace trekking on little mountain trails across the Alps. The views were staggering and so was the effect of hiking at that altitude. But no matter, we just ...
