I started out in a hotel room at the TEDA International Club & Hotel and then the Joint Venture group renegotiated a deal and I moved into a 2 bedroom apartment all to my lonesome. They clean it twice a week and give me clean towels everyday.
I went to dinner at a pretty nice seafood restaurant. I picked the food from aquariums on the main floor of the place and they cook it and bring it to your table which is upstairs. I went with a JV (joint venture) Team member and the Mexican team.
We had Chicken, Pork, Green beans, 2 kinds of shrimp, fish, and a crab. It only came to about 10 US dollars per person.

... Syndrome”. Everyone wants to practice their English or take a picture with you. Sometimes it’s fun, but a lot of times you just feel like a monkey in a zoo. I find many Chinese are curious about foreigners and life outside of China, but their outlets are very limited which makes it extremely difficult for the average person to have any realistic exposure to life outside of China. It also has a lot to do with their mentality, as the concept authority ...
Hexi Qu, Tianjin, China xiaobaoWe chose to visit the nearby port Town of Tanggu where is located the economic location stimulus known as TEDA (basically a lot of westerners and big companies who are drawn in by paying less taxes).
I always like to see anything new, but I found that Tanggu really has nothing to offer and is quite boring. In fact, it was really a comedy of errors one after the other on the Saturday.
First we visited the very famous "Exotic ...
... expat could expect to be. There's no regrets, but only a wish that I had more time to wander the little crevices and feel the mood of the buildings more often. In time I suppose, and also in time I will be able to travel away from my comfortable little zone of China I have created and to wherever the winds of change may call me.
Pictures added, taken Nov. 17.
... as big an idiot as I appear? Could anyone be? I hope I'm comic relief at least. Redirected by personnel I ascend to the proper platform. Jockying for position. Homey don't play that so much. You want a seat so badly, have it. Everything changes and I've had my fair share of seats. I get a seat. Thank goodness 'cuz it a 40 minute ride. Not that sitting's that much easier on the sciatica but it's a bit. Some views. Just new ...
Tianjin, Tianjin, China beastly... location, them with 'meter is broken, 25rmb?'. Of course, it only costs 10rmb to get back to her apartment from the bus station, but why should they assume we know that. Very annoying of course, we ended up taking one of the nu-rickshaws, with the motorcycle front.
That night we spent in the town center, searching for sushi - which we eventually found and was both delicious and too ...
October 1 I had the day off for the Celebration of Chinese National Day. It was the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic of China. I used this time to explore more of Tianjin. I did a lot of walking and sweating but it was worth it. Enjoy the Photos.

... a few doors down after leaving the restaurant we had eaten at), beers at the atmospheric Jack's Pub (where we drank too much... yes, nearly broke and I spent about a quarter of what was left on beer, chuh, nice to know I have my priorities right... and took lots of photos of ourselves while drinking beer...go figure), followed by a spontaneous decision to go clubbing at Soho's.
While I like dancing well enough, this was an executive decision made by J as we were ...
