... and headed off into traffic. Found Stickley residence without incident, lots of traffic near the on ramp of the motorway but managed that ok. Made very welcome from the get go, relaxed and cooled down and then Janet brought out some pastries to have with beer (David) and my rhubarb and ginger juice which was so refreshing. Good morning. No rush to get up but on the road by just after 9. David had sausages and eggs for breakfast do his day was set up! Got into York via par and ride. What a great idea these are. Saves all the effort of parking and much cheaper too. So, into York itself just after 10. Went first together bearings and found ourselves at Clifford's tower, another roman building, part of an early roman fort. Just the outer walls remain. ...

This is my last night at home before I head out to Guatemala via Houston.
I'm too nervous to sleep and I'm enjoying my bedroom for the last time.
I am also finishing some last minute music downloads and playlist editing for my ipod. Setting off at 4:30 in the morning for London Heathrow. I will also be keeping a personal journal as well as an online blog.

I will post again once I'm there and I get chance.

... the trees to Anne Boleyn's Seat. This was a seat in a summer house which had a wonderful view down to the abbey. Anne Boleyn never went there but there is a headless statue of her behind the seat. There were other structures on the walkway including a tunnel, a tower and pagoda (no, look it up). There was a bit of a medieval fair going on: with falcon trainers, knights, soldiers, the King and Queen and an Executioner, showing us the ways of punishing people in those times.
