... nice. Already had a big walk and seen some of the sights - Blue Mosque, Palace etc. More tomorrow. Maybe the Grand Bazaar!!!! But if it is there will be no buying. I need to lighten up now I am back to carring my home on my back - not bulk up. But "just looking" will be good.

A VERY SOMBRE PLACE

We chanced across Courtney's and Steele's Post at 1035, a small cemetery but the one containing the sought for grave. Di was very happy not only to have found it but also to have realized the individual was not in a mass grave. The journey uphill continued at 1047.

... ridiculous how close the trenches were to each other! And each side had tens of lines of trenches going back! At Lone Pine, Australia had 20 lines of trenches and the Turks had 30! The trenches are not their full depth anymore, they are maybe about a metre deep. There were also a few bunkers there. The Aussie trenches we walked in were surrounded by trees, and I stopped and just listened to the wind rustling through the pine trees. It was also a very solemn ...
