... tta följa oss i realtid.

Chillin' in Seattle

Our next stop was Seattle. I loved this city. There weren’t a lot of touristy things to do but I could imagine living there. Our hotel was so nice and we had a really big room, though it was a little creepy as it is quite an old hotel and the bar downstairs supposedly has a ghost.
We went to Gasworks park, saw lots of public art in Fremont (including the huge troll ...

... there that I had never seen before. This afternoon we are taking a trip on a seaplane to see Seattle from the sky. All very exciting and wish we were here for longer!

Will try and do another entry before we leave, or write it up once we are home. Hve had trouble uploading photos so will also do those another time, watch this space!

See you all very soon. Cant believe the trip is nearly over.

6:00 Shutdown

Leaving Portland proved to be quite a challenge. As I said, we had a slow leak in what we thought was two of our tires. We made an appt at a Honda dealership for 8:00AM. Long story short, they couldn't patch the tire because of where the nail was, so we had to get a new one (ouch). They said that after numeous tests they couldn't find anything wrong with the second one...so we paid and left around 10:00ish. We drive ...

First day at the clinic!

... bag arrived the next morning, so now we are all safe and sound and settled at home.

During the ride home, Joseph was telling us about the violence that happened during Kenya’s last presidential elections, which were in December 2007. The sitting president, Kibaki, won over the challenger, Odinga, and violence broke out between supporters of each. Especially in the slums, many people were killed before the two leaders made an agreement to share power and Odinga is now the ...

Bus trip from San Fran to Seattle

... me dog"... "I warned you"... etc etc. I seriously thought it was going to end up in fisticuffs... but it didn't, and there were just snipes going on for the rest of the trip. After midnight the bus terminals we stopped at were all closed so the bus driver said that if you wanted to smoke that's fine just don't go too far. Anyway, as we were pulling out of a stop at about 3am, we saw a silhouette back at the terminal ...

50 Favorite Travel Tips from Julius and Sara

... and women especially. We stayed in two convents in Italy, in Florence and in Rome. Both were delightful, well priced, offered a simple breakfast and were clean, clean, clean. In Florence it was outside the center, about a 20 minute walk to city center. In Rome it was in a residential neighborhood past the Vatican but a very easy bus ride to the Vatican and an easy subway ride from a ...

CA for May -- Egypt

... accurate in a particular location or circumstance. Driving in Egypt, a country with one of the highest incidences of road fatalities per miles driven in the world, is a challenge. Even seasoned residents of Cairo must use extraordinary care and situational awareness to navigate the hectic streets of the capital. Traffic rules appear to be routinely ignored by impatient drivers. Any visiting Americans thinking about driving in Cairo should carefully consider the options, take the ...

Greetings from Seattle

... off, I didn't need to sleep with my handbag by my pillow AND the computer with internet was in my room. Kathi woke me up at 8am on Friday because I wanted to know how the washing machine worked so I could finally have some clean clothes! I went back to sleep until 11am when the dogs woke me up by scratching at my door and barking! I got up, put my washing in and took them out for a little walk. I spent the rest of the day catching up on e-mails and 'bonding' with the ...
