16 September 2009

Okie dokie. I told you all I would start a blog to document my big, pointless, post-grad adventure to Ireland, so here it is. Since both the act of traveling to Europe and that of setting up a blog seem to be the new acts of "getting a job" and “setting up a direct deposit bank account” for the college grads of 2009 who didn't go to law school, I figure I should get going with this blog thing, being that I’m ...

Going the Long Way Around

It is summertime in NYC but is unseasonably cool, mostly has been only in the 70's, so pretty nice.

Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, Central Park, and More!

... bloom, but the tulips were as well! There were so many different varieties and colors of tulips at the BBG, more than I've ever seen! After we checked out the rest of the gardens, we left realizing that it was the greatest botanical gardens that either of us have ever visited! We walked back to the subway and back to Greenwich Village for some lunch. When we walked up from underground, it was suddenly a beautiful ...

So Monday I went to Queens and I found the Irish centre which was amazing... it was a bit over symplistic but I am promised we will move on to some reels and jigs next time. Tuesday I headed to the museum to watch the monthly star show..... however I read the advert wrong and had the wrong day... you win some you loose some I guess.... Today was quite exciting... I headed to a place called the Cooper Union to see a free lecture by Oliver Sacks ...

NY Day 4

... we had a cheap lunch. Steven had still not flushed his cold. When we got back to the hotel he wasn't looking the best, but insisted we go to see tonight's show, In The Heights. We ate an early dinner in our room and got to the theatre with plenty of time before the show. The set was spectacular, a reproduction of the street near the 181st street subway station entrance, in Washington Heights. On seeing the set my expectations slowly grew. Just before the show began a ...

Brrrrr.....freezing in New York

Hi, We landed in New York to surprisingly mild weather.....but it was not to last. After a bit of difficulty, due to the amount of luggage we have, we finally made it to Jonathan's brother's house in New Rochelle, NY. As usual, it was so great to catch up with Stephen and Yael and their children Noam, Daniel and Eliana. We stayed with them for 5 nights and Ethan had a real ball with his cousins, particularly Eliana ...

Down Home Cooking in the Big City

... good.  First we started with three appetizers - chicken wings, nachos, and chips.  I didn't try the chicken wings since they're not my favorite, and the chips weren't very good.  They were fried and the plain ones were great, but some of them were covered in fresh blue cheese and it literally tasted like feet.  It's just not for me!  The nachos were really good, though.  They weren't the best I've ever had but they were good. As an entree I got the pulled pork ...
