A Day In The Life

... day. One that i can't wait to repeat in the very near future.

I'd love to be able to thank the financier behind the day but I don't know where he is. I don't even know who he is. I just know that his name is Stephen Holliday. My friend at the motel tells me he's an English guy. Maybe I'll thank him over a drink one day. His round, of course.

Thought of the Day

ME!

For reference

I should be in prison

not what the name implies

Arrived on Friday (Sept,11th) evening and set ourselves up in a shady, stream side site in Hard Labor Creek State Park. The name comes from the Indians many years ago saying it was hard labor to cross the river (creek). We found no 'hard labor' in any of our stay. The Town is charming with great historic value and flare. The State Park is large and the campground is huge. RV sites, tents, great fully furnished cabins, and an ...

fastest Athens trip EVER

I wanted to spend more time in Athens, but because of all the problems going on, plans kind of got extremely disorganized and we went to Athens on a whim.

We basically ended up in a bar and grabbed dinner at The Grit (famous for vegetarian cuisine), while briefly cruising around town.

I felt sad and sentimental that I didn't get to tour it more, but then again I felt relief; I have another university to call my own, for I am also a NYU graduate. ;)
Day 16 - Alabama to Georgia

We woke up and ate our last hotel continental breakfast. Then we let the kids swim in the pool as promised. We had the pool all to ourselves and the kids loved it. We only had a 6 hour drive left so we stayed there until checkout at 11 am. The kids were great in the car - watching ...

Athens Georgia

... Gardens - they'd just had their first big downpour of rain after three years drought, so the gardeners we met were very happy. We then drove down South Carolina's heritage train - Route 78. We were very excited to see our first fronds of Spanish Moss in a hollow - so atmospheric! We stopped in Williston to get snacks and beverages for lunch, and it was certainly an eye-opener. The supermarket stocked little other than grits, pig ears, chitterlings and ...

Making our way across Georgia

... on up into the northeast corner of Georgia and the Horseshoe Trails Park in a larger complex called Mountain Lakes Resort. It was very nice, even better than the North Shore Park that we had liked so much. We attended a potluck dinner one night that was very pleasant and Terry played a round of golf with some other RVers. They also had a big water slide, water aerobics, miniature golf, horse back riding, a lake for fishing and paddle-boating and a lot more.

... for mentally disadvantaged people where they both work and live. This is a new style of development, which has won awards and got the Georgia State Government interested. From our brief visit it offers the residents dignity, a real and decent home, with staff supporting them in living in their rented accommodation and finding and keeping jobs. We then moved on to a delicious breakfast in downtown Roswell, said farewell to drive on to Franklin, Tennessee.

Backtrack and the green stuff

... find the downtown section of the city and see what was going on. It's a funny feeling being in a city you've never been to before. Everything is so new and seems so wide and deep and unexplored. Kind of feels like you are diving in the ocean and moving through water when you are in a new town. Downtown Athens was a little chilly this night. UGA's last football game was the next day so things were a hoppin. In fitting in with our recent times ...

Board ship

Board ship in Pyreaus. As we are waiting for the taxi to Pyreaus, and this is a SUnday, so VERY little traffic anywhere, my wife and I are window shopping [all are closed at 8am] and stop by this little shop. A driver litterally drives up on the sidewalk to check-out what we see. This ...
