Rain Rain Go Away...

... up, doing some last minute shopping in the galleria and grabbing lunch at Galleria Pizza & Trattoria. I was actually quite happy with my chicken tender wrap! This was a great little place to grab a "quick" bite..well as quick as you can get on island time that is!

Then it was bye bye Puerto Rico! Hope to see you again soon!

Our last night...

... casual - barefeet and swimsuits would have been ok here, so we were way over dressed. This would have been a great place to eat the night before - but it wasn't going to work for tonight.

Instead we found Alfredo's, also in the Intercontinental, which was a great Italian resturant! We enjoyed the yummy Fettucine Alfredo (what they are known for) and delcious wine. The restaurant was great and it was a great way to end the vacation!

Stateside... well, sort of

... recall, we are flying American on this trip because Star Alliance (i.e. United et al) have pretty poor service to Barbados. So we traded for some AA miles to make this happen, and as a result are flying an airline in coach without status for the first time in a long time. Like good boys and girls, we arrived at the airport exactly 2 hours before departure, since this is an international flight. Now, AA flies 3 routes from BGI, namely to MIA ...

Half way across the Atlantic

Day 3 or is it 4 at sea? We are still at sea, and the ship passed the halfway point to Africa at 5pm yesterday. The weather has been fair with highs in the 70s. The days at sea have already started to blend together, and we have relaxed quite a bit from the frenzied pace we were on during our final two weeks in Atlanta. Honestly, there is not much to report about being at sea. However, we want to keep the blog active and decided to go ahead ...

Disembarkation day & flight back home

By 9:15am we were in the lounge and were fortunate to see again some of our friends we made during this cruise. Conversations took place and once our colour was called, we all made our way outside a door, off the ship and then in the Convention Center which was walking distance to the ship. All of our luggages, having been picked up last night by the staff ...

Konik morski and Thanksgiving

POLSKI: Rano spedzilam w galerii. O 12tej ja i Ben mielismy wolne, na 7 godzin. Dawno nie opuscilam statku w tak ekspresowym tempie! Bylo upalne poludnie, a my udalismy sie na zwiedzanie miasta. Poszlismy w przeciwna strone niz ja ostatnio i jednym z pierwszych obiektow, na ktory sie natknelismy byl... konik morski, a dokladniej jego rzezba. Ben idealnie wymawia to wyrazenie po polsku. Kto by pomyslal, ze z tysiecy ...

Puerto Rico, Day 2

... but he immediately replies nothing. There is nothing anyone can do because the world is only going to get worse and worse, but he's excited for 2008 when GW leaves office. I tell him I hope that things get better for him with the next president, but he says nothing will change, it will always suck. At this point, he finally said goodbye, that maybe if we were back that way again tomorrow we'd see him and talk more. I felt anxious the whole time I was talking ...

Puerto Rico

... but it was very cool. All the tables were covered in sayings like: "An eye for eye leaves everyone blind." It was pretty chill and their Key Lime sorbet wasn't bad either. We headed out to El Morro, a fort that was built in the mid 16th Century. It took 200 years to build, and is a very prominent part of Puerto Rico. It was attacked a number of times and was controlled by the Spanish and British at different times in history. There were steps up ...

SAA conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico

... utter paucity of fineware at La Tiza. There are absolutely no fancy Paracas bowls nor Nasca 1 polished blackware. It appears that neither the Paracas elites nor the Proto-Nasca peoples possessing Nasca 1 blackware resided at La Tiza or traded more than utilitarian ceramics with the La Tiza inhabitants. It is currently unclear why the La Tiza people did not participate in or were excluded from the exchange of finer goods. Perhaps they chose not to associate with the old ...

Puerto Rico!

... to in the states and I only saw maybe a forth of it. Of course I felt really stupid actually buying something that I could buy in the states and it was all the same prices so I ended up not getting anything. They had a lot of stuff from India which we all really like but decided maybe we should actually buy the real thing in India. We also hit up Kmart which was right outside and I did end up buying some food there since it is crazy expensive to buy food on the ...
