... the week but on Saturday we leave for St Anton - apparently it's an 8 hour drive so up at 6AM.... when we get there we get to go to our permanent accommodation - we're living with the other couple and apparently our appartment has en suite bathrooms and a washing machine so sounds pretty good to us!

I awoke to a beautiful day in Chamonix.
I was sad it was my last day in the Alps, but I was anxious to move
on to Annecy, where Sandy and I had visited about 4 years ago. I
checked out and loaded the car, took a few more pics since it was
such a clear day and headed off to Annecy, about an hour drive from

... et des toilettes sous les escaliers(pas de lumiere bien sur) en haut une porte qui barre pas et qui donne sur un couloir avec une salle avec 4 gros lavabos et 5 douches(pas d'eau chaude). Apres, ya 3 chambre avec 30 lit au total(pis c pas des grosse chambre croyer moi!!! (c'est des lit a deux etages et ya des casier en metal pour entreposer nos affaires et les barrer. Les niaiseries qu'on a fait la bas.... ah mon dieu, vous pouvez meme pas imaginer!! Mais y fallait etre la ...

We sadly left Chamonix and vowed to return there in the winter, and drove to Annecy. Annecy was kind of a repeat of Prague, beautiful old city, on the water, with canals... we were kind of sick of that scene by then. They are applying to have the 2018 Olympics there, with the ski events at Mont Blanc. It would be a nice venue for sure.

... heure, nous grimpons vers le col de Chavannes pour trouver un coin pour le pique-nique. Puis sous les nuages menaçant, nous atteignons le Mont Fortin (2 758 m), la pluie s'est mise a tomber par rafale, et nous suivra pratiquement jusqu'au terme de la journée.

Nous descendons vers le refuge du Col Checroui, où nous arrivons trempés comme des soupes. Inutile de vous dire que tout le monde était sur les ...

... En effet, les courbatures de la veille jouent un mauvais tour a ceux qui n'avaient que peu d'entrainement en montagne, en gros, les Bretons, les Normands et les Parisiens. Surtout ne pas se laisser impressionner, le col est là-bas ... et forcément ça va encore monter, tous arriverons au sommet, mais dans quel état !!

Nous grimpons allègrement vers le col de la Croix du Bonhomme, où nous passons alors ...

... jà 5 heures de marche. Sur cet itinéraire par les chalets d’Armancette surplombant le val Montjoie, entre Mont-Blanc et Beaufortain, les écarts se font de plus en plus grand, il faut s'arrêter souvent pour attendre les trainards.

La pause déjeuner est la bienvenue, surtout qu'on s'était coltiné la bouffe dans nos sacs a dos, alors on déguste le sauciflard, la salade composée, le morceau de Comt ...

... until a French family shows us how to disconnect the shower in order to fill our jerry can. This is a large, tree-shaded riverside aire. In the evening we walked round the medieval part of the town. Quite amazing and unlike anywhere in the UK but not uncommon in France. Truly ancient buildings, still in use. Streets so narrow two donkeys would struggle to pass.
