Since we could not find a campground that had a vacancy around the Lexington, KY area for part of the Memorial Day weekend, we opted to skip that area and go on to a KOA a few miles southwest of Ashland, KY which is across the Ohio river from Huntington, WV and a few miles south of Ohio – thus the Tri-State Area of the Ohio River valley.

We are still in Wheelersburg, Ohio. We are so tired from travel and preparation to get here that we overslept and missed breakfast. Scott has a terrible cold and his eyes are blood red. He does not feel well at all. I can't tell if I am sick or just mean and mad that I am on this bike again. ... Kentucky roads and their attendant anxiety and fear does not seem to ease with time. Just seeing a coal truck on another narrow winding road is more than my fragile psyche can handle.
Scott tells me he is scared also. He tries all his court jester moves and comments, it does not help. He uses his, "you can rent a car anytime and follow me and I will ride to the finish for us both". Yeah, like I'm going to let that happen. Yeesh.
