Qingdao, Shandong, China cncrouter01... to sit with him while he got exponentially more drunk. After awhile, another guy came over and sat at a stool next to drunkie. New guy did NOT look happy. He was saying something that sounded like lecturing to drunkie that we later dubbed as: "Why are you always drinking so much? You're giving away all this food and beer. Somebody needs to pay for it!" Brett and I decided it was definitely time to leave, so we gave the guy a 20 (about $3 and ...

Qingdao, Shandong, China eddakath... big shot who lives elsewhere.

China is beautiful, but in too many places, it has been overburdened and poisoned. To be frank, I think the problem is so serious that it cannot be fixed. Chinese people love their country with a passion that is sometimes scary, but they have very nearly killed it. That is more than enough reason to feel sad.

Some of the photos (the wedding shots) were taken in spring 2009, not winter 2008.

Qingdao, China wenwenredsail... music because it is mentionably TERRIBLE: literally every single song every single place you go is an incredibly cheesy pop song, the kind that's so bad it would not even be played on the worst American radio station. As far as we can tell, they all deal with some sort of romance, and combine synthetic pop beats with extremely high-pitched singing. Even Lee couldn't make them sound good. And so it was in Qingdao... off to Shanghai!
Qingdao, Shandong, China ericablair... cooperated substantially more with the Chinese government. For example, German schools did not insist that Chinese students convert to Christianity in order to study at there. Such was the case in French, English and American schools. In terms of eduction, the Germans established preperatory schools in China, which fed two technical colleges they built, in Qingdao and Shanghai. There they taught Western science to appreciative Chinese; who, by the dawn of the 20th ...
Qingdao, China fatduck... America. The kids start courting is all. And flirting. And blushing. And talking about romance. Sex is highly taboo, despite some of the public advertisements discussing it, and the widely available condoms in every place imaginable. The kids want a boyfriend or a girlfriend to experience romantic love. They are nutty about romantic love. They're always asking us about love poetry, candle-light dinners, places to date, and all that. (But I'll spare what I've found out about ...
Qingdao, China natandandy... just worked out the other day that we can make Garlic Bread at home. Was quite a happy chappy for quite a while at that discovery. Obviously not that hard, but it had never occurred to us. From my excitement, you may be able to gauge how repetitive Chinese food is getting to me.) Popped in to the Qingdao museum which was a nice little tidy place. Small enough that you don't go catatonic after seeing the 54th ...
