Tourist-ing Out in Tenerife

A travel blog entry by mike_erin

On a (very) early Saturday morning we checked out of our hotel in Nantes wearing ski jackets and flew to the south side of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Ski jackets were quickly traded for shorts, flip flops and sunburnt British tourists as apparently we had arrived in the Mexico of Europe! After locating our hotel we decided to rent a car for our first week. I was tentative because after all, we hadn't driven at all for five months now but Mike was confident so we went and picked ...

La Palma

It was a long and arduous sea voyage. The all-inclusive self-service restaurant was always so busy that I had to go to the quiet cafe and buy a sandwich with my own money. On the third day it was finally quiet enough that I could get a proper meal, much to the server's surprise,"You've been onboard since Cádiz and this is your first meal?? As tempting as it was, free accomodation AND a lovely Irish ...

Our descent into La Palma Aeropuerto was a bit of a 'heart in throat' experience and for the first time I was a little concerned while flying. Having looked out the window I ...

Santa Cruz de La Palma

A travel blog entry by bollinger_babe

The Queen Elizabeth arrived in La Palma at 8.0oam. This is the only port of call that we hadn't been to previously, so we were looking forward to exploring this island. La Palma is the fifth largest of the seven Canary Islands. We had booked an excursion this afternoon to see some volcanoes and also (more!) wine sampling. :-)

La Palma is known as la isla bonita, which means pretty island. It was the subject of a song by Madonna in ...
