Finally Zadar was in sight– who needs a TomTom! Before we knew it, we had found our lovely yellow apartment and our host, Kruno, was waiting for us.

We went to Stara Baska next. Now that was a nice trip! We went all the way to the end of yhe road and were surprised to find a nice little secluded bay where you could swim. We got our swimming stuff and hopped on down to the beach. That was nice. The water was cristal clear and boy... Even more cold than the other places we had swom. The view from the water ...

We had dinner at the restaurant and watched the match Argentina - Switzerland.
Unfortunately Erwin wasn't feeling too wel. He was coughing all the time and had a soar throught.
We made plans for the next day. We will drive around the island and swim at some of the beaches along the way.

... and cards were not welcome. My birthday feast now involved one mixed grill that had to be shared between us. With no more ice-cold Karlovackos. A neat irony for one who does not share food. Perhaps the Birthday Gods were teaching me a lesson.
It is not easy being 53.
We returned to Red and the snails, and happily found some old cans of Polish beer, and tucked into some bread and cheese purchased earlier in Zadar. The cheese was somewhat uncertain. I was not entirely sure ...
