Buisness in the front, Party in the back.

... It didn't take too much longer to exhaust myself in the shoulder to shoulder hustle and bustle. After a few hours and a beer I decided to go home and have a rest before the evening.

After a nap and a shower I sat around talking with an assortment of travelers in the common room until someone suggested that we go out for a drink. So my newfound friends and I set out to see what Madrid is like in the evening. Once again the finding ...

*** On etait hier a Cuenca.

The End and Rain in Spain

... suggested that we´d asked for a gallon of petrol. After a brief debate around the semantics we settled for soup. Cuenca is famous for its ´hanging houses´ made necessary by the decision to build the town on the top of a big rock. It was this big rock that we were now walking up, the lactic acid build-up in my calves making me reconsider whether a constant diet of Jamon Serrano y queso, was entirely healthy ...

Almagro - Cuenca

2 days in the hills

Left Madrid on Dec. 27 and headed for Cuenca. There was suppose to be these hanging houses. More like houses slightly over the edge of the rock face than hanging. Cuenca is a small town but there were some cool museums and buildings. On the 29th when we left Cuenca and got the train to Valencia where we encountered an ...

Screw the Hanging Houses, I'm Hungry

... city though. It was perched on a hill. The top of the hill was the oldest level of houses, then there was a more medieval looking level as you progressed downwards. Finally the modern sprawl that was Cuenca surrounded the bottom of the hill. After a lot of driving and a lot of complaining from Ward, we finally found the Hanging Houses of Cuenca. We parked on the slope and slammed someones car, but the guy coming ...

Day 9 - Spanish TV

... I'm not declaring that I'm evil, but my Japanese DNA were sensing something. Well I should stop now, because it's really nothing to ones who did not grow up with an Asian language that has names for the invisible. If you want to investigate more, bring a Japanese friend with strong 霊感 (reikan: sense of spirit) to Cuenca. Hostal Castella will have a nice, clean and cheap room with an very open-minded Spanish TV. Ã Dios, K

Day 8 - Cuenca (Spain)

... front door was locked so I spoke through the interphone in Spanish; - Hi, is there any single room for tonight? A woman's voice answered. - Yes, for 25 euro. - Is it? It's VERY expensive! - Oh well, how is it at 15, then? I was stunned by the immediate 40% discount. I was silent for a while but I decided to go further, - Well, it's good. But would it be any cheaper if I stayed for 3 nights? - 3 nights ...
