We left San Francisco on the morning of September 17th with big expecatations. Today's drive would be the longest of our three trips - about 230 miles. The Pacific Coast Highway went up route 1 for most of this journey and not 101 which is much busier. We made a few stops on the way to Hearst Castle, the first was at Pismo Beach which looks as though during Summer it would be extremely busy. It was fairly busy even now with quite a few surfers.

... to watch a movie about the building of this vast castle and then headed out to find somewhere for lunch. We drove back to the elephant seals and had lunch listening to them call out. We then walked along the walk way and spotted a whale out to sea. After a little while, we left the seals behind us and headed to our final stop, Atascadero. Before we arrived, we pulled over and watched the sun set at Morro Bay.

Wine tasting - and more - with friends.
After a couple of fantastic days in San Juan Bautista we were joined by Doug & Vicki Bell prior to continuing south ( they actually pulled over on the side of Highway 101 to join the 'Sairavan' ) We continued south a little over 100 miles before pulling into Wine Country RV Park in Paso Robles.
