A lovely hotel. Beautifully decorated, very comfortable, and it has a pool, which of course is important to our kids. It is close to Hearst Castle and to the Elephant Seal Rookery. Continental breakfast is included. We did book through Expedia so managed to save quite a lot of money. Highly recommend.

      An American Castle
Last night, we arrived at The Morgan Hotel in San Simeon. It was a place to sleep before visiting Hearst Castle, and we found it on Expedia. The price was right, and it was as lovely as it looked in pictures. The pool was great, if a little chilly for this family, but we had a great feast of pizza and salad, and crashed after …

      En route to San Simeon
After a wonderful breakfast at The Crow's Nest in Santa Cruz, the Turners headed down the coast toward San Simeon, California. We had been told that we really should see the 17 Mile Drive; it was supposedly beautiful. So, when we saw the sign, we pulled up the gate, paid our 10 dollars (!) and drove around the area of …

It was definitely cheap - & that's about the best that can be said for it. The advertisement said sea views - this was from the carpark, with a chain link fence & freeway in between. The room was small, the sheets polyester & the decor ...
