Nice beach, not enough atmosphere

... was a free concert hosted on Saturday night, there were tons (and I mean 10's of thousands) and the crowd was quite, not much clapping when songs ended, the tiniest bit of hand waving, but definitely no dancing. It was seriously strange. I guess that's what happens where there is no booze involved.
Living the Mandala

... for some spectacular trekking. Climbed Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa, which was a real gem.

Marrakesh was a vibrant pace after small town life and I really enjoyed wandering the souks and Djemma el-Fna, making friends with locals while sharing tea and scrubbing away the old me at the hammam. I didn't realize how much of a true taste of Moroccan culture and ...

So much fun in Morroco's Hotel Sofitel Agadir

... The views are amazing and breathtaking. Photo worthy shots of the hotel's magnificent garden, the ocean, and the extravagant pool that guests enjoy during their stay at Sofitel Agadir are right outside your window. This Moroccan slice of heaven is just far enough away to enjoy a peaceful stay and only the sounds of the ocean waves crashing will fall upon your ears. Walk along the ...

Sixth Day - Free day

... we went to the ocean to have some sun, because we still had no signs of visiting sunny warm country=) We all made some temporary tatoos, that's why we spent more than 6 hours under the sun without cremes or umbrellas =D That was my mistake, but nice to know that after all despite my obviously red skin, I would have a tan=) The whole body was burning, but I knew that's my only day to lie under the sun so i kinda liked ...

Going South again

... No signs of any airport bus or donkey cart. So I talked to one of the tourist bus drivers and at the end he gave me a lift into town. Free. How sweet, and a very nice start. In Agadir, there are small taxis and big taxis. The big ones are old Mercedes and they go as share taxis to destinations out of town, but they wait until they have 6 passengers. 4 squeeze on the back seat and two ...

Agadoo doo doo

... Shrugging this off, our first day in resort we went in search of something at least semi- authentically Moroccan. At first glance Agadir seemed just like the kind of tourist town you'd find in Spain or Greece, kitted out specifically for expats, lads and ladettes looking for as much of Britain as possible in what should be an exciting ...

Diary of my first ever trip to Morocco

... tipping down for a few minutes. Apparently there hasn't been rain of any significance since 1986. We arrived in the centre of Marrakesh at 10:30am and parked up to photograph the Koutoubia Mosque. We were given a glimpse of the Hotel Mamounia which is reputed to be the most expensive hotel in Marrakesh and is where the likes of Sting or Victoria Beckham would stay at a cost of 2000 Euros a night. Lots of sad looking Moroccan pussy-cats around (ps I'm a cat lover). We went down ...

Morocco Dreams

... it was in Egypt. It's more like Turkey, thank goodness. JoAnn may survive after all. :^) We are really not geared for long stretches in third world countries. We seem to be developing a rhythm regarding how we travel. We move and explore, then move again until we find somewhere we like to stay. JoAnn doesn't get bored and I seem to really like the exploration part. After being on the road for a month (doesn't time fly) we are starting to feel those changes ...

Safe and Waiting

... of phonecalls from her Gendarme, or national police. The king had previously ordered the protection of Peace Corps volunteers by Gerndarmes throughout the country. This protection had varied on an individual basis from apparently no heightened attention to being continually shadowed by the Gendarmes. Luci's Gendarme stated that she should not have left her town without him and that she was to order the taxi driver to stop and wait for him to arrive. Thus began ...
