The huge place is in a sharp contrast to the busy market place jus outside. Lots of greenery and tranquility all around. Our room was at an elevation so afforded a very nice view of the sea from across tree tops and roof tops. Breakfast is great too

So here we are in Penang. An island a lot bigger than I initially thought but its home to historic buildings, trendy bars, cafes, guesthouses and hostels as well as a Philippino receptionist with perhaps the best laugh I have ever heard. Basic little town, particularly as we have been spoilt. Not much yo it so decided to go to Ao Nang Beach for the day. Ao Nang was a little like a small Patong so we took a long boat ride to Railay Beach. Railay was pretty lovely, a beach surrounded by big cliffs. It was quite hot, but we found a few comfortable spots in the shade and it was a nice day in the end. Long Boat back to Ao Nang then met ...
... to say, we never went back there!
Krabi is a good place for island hopping and we did 2 tours. The first was to the Hong islands on a long-tail boat, with a few other people. All the islands were postcard perfect, with white, sandy beaches and turquoise water. There were quite a few tourists wherever we went, but we had come to accept this everywhere in Thailand. It did make snorkelling quite difficult though, because we had lots of people around us (who couldn't swim), ...
