      Had a blast

      from

I recently vacationed with my family in Virginia Beach @ the Ocean Beach Club hotel. We found the rooms to be very nice and of very good quality. The staff from the housekeepers to the front desk folks were very friendly and accomodating. They helped us find some great places to eat and some interesting things to do. While Virginia Beach itself is somewhat limited on quality family fun, our stay at this property made up for what the city lacked. We had a blast.

      Very Nice Resort

      from

After reading the other reviews for this hotel; I found it necessary to write a review after my families recent stay @ OCB. We too are timeshare owners for this resort and recently stayed for a full week @ the resort even with small children. (14, 7, and 3 all girls). We had a wonderful vacation. There are aminities that are not yet available because only the first stage of the building is complete. However the heated outdoor pool was available and in excellent working/clean condition during our stay. We especially liked that the pool was child friendly with steps down into the pool vs only ladders and 3 foot to 5 foot depth. There was however only 1 DVD player in the bedroom which we would have prefered to be in the living room as the girls slept on the full size pull out bed. Would also take my own pillows next time because we are not fond of feather pillows. Everyone was exceptionally friendly, right down to the valet parking guys. Housekeeping was prompt to bring us extra towels/pillows & even TP ;-) Again about the activities they gave us at the front desk a schedule for the week of things that was available just needed to register 24 hrs prior even had horseback riding available on the beach just contact the front desk/activity person. I could go on and on but basically just wanted to give a positive feed back for this resort and say just try it and see how your experience is... We went with God on our side so I know that makes all the difference in how we deal with the general public and how blessed we were to enjoy His mighty creation each beautiful morning that He woke us up to enjoy sight/sounds @ VB.

      Ocean Beach Club...Lots of potential

      from

Visited over Easter break with my daughter(9) and my son(15) and one of his friends. Decor is modern, bright and fun. Kids loved the flat screen tv. Pool is pretty, but no outdoor hot tub. And no indoor pool which would have been nice. Great location.

After reading previous reviews I was concerned about the service, but was pleasantly surprised. Trash was removed daily by maid staff and extra towels were brought within 15 minutes of request. We declined the sales tour and were not called again.

Two things I did not like.....I was charged $1 per day for use of a safe, even though I did not want to use it. And the parking is not the best. You must use valet parking or pay the hilton 3 blocks away to use their lot. This would not bother me except that they were so busy that we would have to wait up to 15 minutes to get the car and then wait another 10-15 minutes when we returned.

We had a great time and would definantly return. I got the week through II for $225 so we certainly got our moneys worth.

      We were totally disappointed!

      from

We were suckered into buying a time share at this property. We were so excited to go down for a whole week. We have 3 girls, a 10 year old, a 2.5 year old and a 6 month old. This was a miserable experience! All of the imenities that we were sold won't be ready for 3 MORE YEARS! - the indoor pool, the gym, haven't been built yet. There was nothing for our girls to do! The outdoor pool was closed, there was a was an 8K and a marathon going on, so we couldn't rent bikes. We couldn't even drive anywhere, because the roads were blocked off most of the two days. The rude front desk staff were comptletly hateful! the DVD rental machine in the lobby was broken, and when I went to complain to the front desk, my daughter broke one of the little knick knacks on a table in the lobby - they charged us $100, something that insurance would have covered. They acted like she had the plague. We found old open candy in the couch and the bed in the other room was broken, wood was sticking out the bottom. The concierge was never there, and we later learned the concierge was only there to sell us more timeshares. There was NOTHING for us to do, so we left on Monday after we had "paid" for a whole week. This was a horrible trip. We not only don't want to go back to this hotel, we don't want to go back to VA beach and will take a loss on the time share to get rid of it. I know I am forgetting something, but let's just say it was terrible!

      Nice Resort, Rude Employee's

      from

First of all I have to give "Ocean beach" their due for being a very modern/upscale Resort. My girlfriend and I were in town deciding on a place to stay for a few days. We walked in and encountered a very nice front desk employee name Deidra. She actually sold us "Ocean Beach". We settled for a two night stay. Having such a wonderful time in our one bedroom suite, complete with full kitchen, jacuzzi bath, and flat screen television. On our second evening we decided that we wanted to stay two additional nights. We were returning to the hotel so we just stopped by the front desk. The rude employee stated that our room was only available for one more night, did she bother to check any other rooms in the hotel, NO... We settled for the one extra night at that time. I then asked for a bike rental. She said they didn't have any but some sister properties did, well she couldn't find the information, gave up and roughly placed a coupon booklet in front of me and said "I'm pretty sure you can find one in here". I didn't tell her I had three of them in my car already. I thought front desk was their for guest services. I held my peace and went to my room disgusted. I called down to the front desk and asked for a manager, the same lady that handled us roughy answered the phone and told me she was the manager which I later discover was not true. Let me tell you after this ordeal I couldn't enjoy my evening, I couldn't sleep for being so furious. I had rather slept in my car than rest knowing she was at the front desk. We had conveintly found corporate's telephone number. The woman I spoke with there was very understanding and profusely apologized for all the troubles, she didn't offer any excuses. She asked me to hold tight for a moment and within three minutes the phone rang, it was the real front desk manager from the afternoon before. She actually called basically defending her employee's actions, stating that she didn't see how her employee handled us roughly. At that very moment I politely said you can cancel my extra night, I'm outta here, I'll be down to check out!! Again I'll say this was a very nice modern/upscale Resort, but one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch.

      Do not stay here!

      from

First of all, this hotel from the outside looks very beautiful and grand. From the moment we stepped foot in the lobby that is where the troubles started. The desk clerk at the Front Desk was very rude and informed us that they had lost our reservation!!! It had taken them at least 20 minutes to get the new reservation in place and accidentally double charging my credit card. The room we were assigned was no better in terms of cleanliness. There was dirt and dust all over the floor and our family didn't feel so safe there for our trip. Ther was no indoor pool in the hotel, only an outdoor pool which was not open during our stay. The price wasn't the greatest. We left after the first out of five nights and went to a better hotel down the street. Do not stay here at all!!!

      Loved it

      from

I stayed at this hotel for my birthday in January. It is really a beautiful hotel with excellent amenities. It is further down on the beach but that is what I was looking for. The decor of hotel and the rooms are very modern and I loved it. I plan to stay here again and it is worth the money.

We left the Hotel in Milford this morning and the temperature was -2, the sun was shining and it was another clear day. We have been fortunate with the weather. Before we headed in our southerly direction we took a detour to the Delaware Water Gap. On entry to the Park we knew the 70,000 acres were impressive with the high hills and rock cuts to the slightly ice covered water below. Signs indicated "falling rock, or extreme wildlife ...

      Thoughts on a Napkin

A year or so ago, a friend and I talked about starting a blog detailing our travels together. We were sitting in a Pittsburgh restaurant with our husbands brainstorming ideas on a napkin. I came home and created this blog... and then did nothing about it. Never wrote anything.
Well here it is- another cold winter day and we are planning another summer vacation. As I think back ...

Made it down the bay overnight

Survived a wild ride down the bay. Some of the roughest conditions we have experienced on the Chesapeake. Big waves. 30+ kt winds and lots of driving rain. Enjoyed our new cockpit enclosures as well as the heater we installed below. The AIS system which allowed us to identify ships during the night was a big help.

Navy ships don't use AIS so we slowed to enter Hampton Roads after sunrise. Still, with heavy ...

... confusion; finally there we decided to chill by the communal pool which hosted the campsite disco before turning in for the night. It was like that scene from The Inbetweeners. Imagine if you will a dirty caravan discotheque in Hull. Now picture the American equivalent. Not nice. This place was epitomised by faecal matter that was far too sizeable to be from any animal smaller than a human; and on the steps of the pool no less! The place was a ...

Our Passage from Great Abaco to the Chesapeake Bay

On May 15 we departed at 0750 for Norfolk, leaving Marsh Harbour and exiting through the northern Man-O-War ocean pass with winds from the ENE at 15-20 kts. The weather forecast looked good for a non-stop passage to the Chesapeake Bay. Accordingly, our course was a little east of north as we were "aiming" for an entry into the Gulf Stream south of Cape Hatteras. Then we'd ride the stream in the ...
