... eating - the food here is delicious!!! Almost every night, Iīve had a huge juicy steak!
There are 5 girls from England in my dorm and we have been hanging out together a bit. Tuesday night we all went to eat with 2 girls from Ireland and 1 American guy. Hereīs a pic of the steak Annie & I split. I think I could actually feel my arteries clogging =)
... to San Telmo and even recognised where to get off. That is one of the advantages in staying in one place for more than a couple of days! We had a giggle at the ‘Super Amigos’ chair in a local arty shop on the walk back home from the bus stop. Unfortunately my photo through the window is a bit blurred but you can just about make out Jesus with his super-hero saintly friends (but I don't think they include Gauchito Gil).
Buenos Aires, Distrito Federal, Argentina jenandtony... own central commercial district, residential areas, good parts and, of course, bad parts. All you really need to know well in order to get by is your own barrio and possibly parts of other nearby barrios. Each barrio technically has enough shops, restaurants, supermarkets, schools, and everything else that you could live your whole life without leaving. And Buenos Aires is not like so many of our cities in the states ...
Caballito, Distrito Federal, Argentina ben_grainger... which was quite fun but the weather was a little colder on Friday so fewer came out that day. The schools here have been quite badly affected with flu (both the standard and swine varieties) so the attendance of the kids has been down. They are actually closing the schools and starting the winter holidays nearly 3 weeks early to try and contain the rate of infection. Although the government hasn't made any restrictions about public gatherings so far they ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina calmyourjets... got burnt from the sun, but now I am quite tan J. Later that afternoon when it started to rain, as it always does in the afternoon, a few of us played some tag in the pouring rain which was amazing and reminded me of my camper days.
All over the resort were these raccoon-like animals that walk up to you at the pool, will either grab on to your bag, unzip it, even open coolers, and take what ever is inside. My friend had a war over a ...
... them very doors on their respective missions. I don't think Darwin was that fond of taxis and for some reason preferred a horse to travel. He must have been on a budget. As it turned out we were put into a taxi, gave the driver the address who agreed and headed towards The Obelisco hostel on Av Corrientes. The driver, who I would assume from early attempts at a conversation, realised none of us could speak Spanish but still went on to talk in his native tongue for the whole ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina demange... like we were back in Europe (until you walked around the corner or saw a Ute drive past with people sitting in the back). We explored the Recoleta area, one of the more expensive areas in BA and walked around the cemetery. This is the strangest cemetery I have ever been to. There is no grass and every family has there own monument. Some are huge with a big marble foyer inside and then stairs leading down to the crypt. Some are very ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina laine... When we got to the airport, we were wonderfully surprised to see Witek and Mariela there. They had come by to drop off our sunglass case that we left at their house, along with a couple of gifts and to save us a spot in line as well. It was very nice to see them and great to feel that we have an extra set of parents all the way in Argentina. We truly will miss them and the country. Adios!
Buenos Aires, Argentina mrewkowski... seen it open several times.... Very weird:P Anywaysz, I went out with a pubcrawl on thursday in Palermo, which was great!!! It was on this plaza, with al the tables and such outside and live music, and this guy who juggled with ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina aishwarya... cheap beer (which, actually, isn't that much more difficult), and no public transportation. I have spent the past week camping with dear friends, most of which i have left behind and will probably not ever see again (although hope will always exist for Carlos, Fabio, Priscilla and Liza)... i spent new years on top of a mountain in el bolson, and witnessed stars like i have never seen before in my life. I have ushered in the new year by diving into ...
