... of a July afternoon and it must be wonderful in winter when people come in the evening after work to relax. We spent a happy hour and a half there although my daughter was not too chuffed at the colour it turned her white bikini! I hope the brownish stains will come out. We were told it would make our skin beautifully smooth but I am sceptical of this claim. The climb out of the caldera was impressively steep and twisty and there was a beautiful view from the Pico de Minhos at the ...

Now for the 5 day crossing of the Atlantic in a ship (Another thing to check off our list!) We thought the high seas may continue but to our surprise we spent 5 days on beautiful calm to moderate seas. It was amazing to know you are in the middle of an ocean. Our flight to the Azores went very quickly at two hours and fifteen minutes. The real bonus was we gained an hour as we approached ...

Playing Catch Up

... do the cooking of the food. It's a little eery knowing there's that much heat so close to the surface around here. Intelligently I know that it's just hot water coming up from way below the surface where it's being heated, but intuitively you kind of just visualize molten lava right there under your feet! Anyway, the bubbling and gurgling noises and steam etc. would make for quite the movie set!
Following that, we hit the road and headed for home in Porto Formoso.
