      ... rather than navigate. The first part of the route took me through the port area-- Le Havre being the biggest port container facility in France. It looked much like a cargo port might. I knew this wouldn't be the most scenic part, but I figured it would be interesting, and it was.       ... guys to land on Normandy beach were the Rangers. There is a monument dedicated to them in the shape of a dagger. When I asked the tour guide what it was, she explained the dagger to me, but then also mentioned, oh by the way it is also a very phallic symbol - represents men,s might! She had a sense of humor even if she never stopped takling.

      The next stop for me I loved was Omaha beach. It is beautiful setting. The beach goes on for miles ...

      ... uphill to the Cote de Grace with the old cathedral and stunning views of the town. We also found the best bakery with our favourite baguettes of the trip in Honfleur where we went daily to purchase the seedy multigrain baguette they called cereale.

The memorial was semi circular, romanesque and contained, among other things full, painted drawings showing the invasion and all its elements, clearly and lushly detailed. Assault groups were identified in the drawing with their national flags, including the Canadian Third Infantry Division.
