... article all about one in particular. The terms suggested that other than rearranging a cancelled flight, the airline had no further liability to the passengers. Outrageous. However, buried in the midst of the text was an exception for a particular law, EC Regulation 261/2004, which by joyous coincidence was the one mentioned in the article I'd pulled up off Google. I printed off the article and the entire regulation, then went and got a burger from Burger King while I read and ...
Hong Kong, China alastair6... we loved about China was the post office! You bring all your stuff in there (loose) and they pack it for you. If you brought it completely, packaged, they would open it, to see what was inside and then repack it for you. It’s their job to fill out the customs form. We sent a few packages from China with random souvenirs that we bought and it was so great to take it to the post office and have them deal with packing it all. They did not charge for the packing ...
Hong Kong, China paulfeuerborn... Dublin vibe?...) and I’m in the top bunk of a room with a girl from "near Cant**bury", England, and my toilet is a shared toilet/show** in the common area, with a sink somewh**e else.
And the wifi isn’t working. This is the first of many non-live blogs, I fear...
It’s not enormously expensive anyway, and it’s clean AND I’m tired (and the lady is back across the road in the oth** building), so I’ll live for four days ...
... at least that’s what the tour guide said the smell was).
Following Man Mo we headed up to Victoria Peak, which stands (over 400 metres - I was listening!) above Hong Kong Island with stunning views. The tram ride was the steepest I’ve ever been on (not far from vertical) and it resembled the sort of incline you'd experience making the first steep climb on a roller-coaster. The views as per the pictures were amazing.
After Victoria Peak we ...
... next day we caught a ferry to Macau on the mainland of China. Macau's historic centre was added to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site list in 2005, underlining its strategic and cultural importance over centuries. The mixture of colonial Portuguese architecture sits beautifully alongside its East-Asian flair as you can see from the photos taken in the square. Macau was founded in 1557 during the great era of Portuguese overseas exploration. It became ...
Hong Kong, China mikeandpaula_09... Chinese herbal medicines and what have you... Pop into Man Wa Lane , also known as Chop Alley , where there are many stalls of chop-makers. The chops are traditional Chinese stamps and seals, engraved on various materials like wood, bamboo, stone, bone and the likes... Continue walking along Wing Lok to its end and turn left to Des Voeux Road West , known also as Dried Seafood Street . From Des Voeux ...
Hong Kong, China asiaexpert... wash, dry and fold our clothes, so we headed back to our rooms, dirty clothes in hand. We were leaving for Beijing tomorrow anyway, and they should have washers and dryers. We got back to our rooms around 2:30, and read and wrote in our journals and packed until about 7, when half of the group went back to the Peak to eat at Bubba Gump's Shrimp, two guys went to go play in a beer pong tournament through the school, and Ellie and I decided that we ...
Hong Kong, Hong Kong lrgraves... are but what do you expect when you descend from convicts. Tahsa: Another typical Aussie, nice enough. She could do with some surgery on that gigantic nose of hers. I can't talk really as I do have a fairly large and nose but honestly this is a nose of epic proportion. I feel sorry for her because other than that she's only semi ugly. Tim: Now what can I say about Tim. I'll start with his good points...... Ok that's it. You know when you meet one of those people ...
Hong Kong, China thebigh... the cormorants and the fishermen. We reached the end of the river and were given the opportunity to get up close with the birds and i even held one. Our second day in Yangshuo was one of my most memorable so far....soooo much fun :) We started the day with a cookery course we had booked....7 people turned up and between the five meat eaters we choose three dishes to cook, the two veggies did the same. I basically just kept on saying sweet and sour ...
Hong Kong, China thomaswguy... on the way out when it was lit up. However the night-time skyline is extremely impressive, particularly with the free laser show, and we did like the ultra-wobbly Star Ferry, which takes you from Hong Kong island to Kowloon for a ridiculous HKD2 or 12p.
Hong Kong is unbelievably crowded, noisy and frenetic; the first day's rain made us feel like we were in 'Blade Runner' as signs flashed everywhere and giant plasma screens ...
