The second activity recommended to us by the Information Centre was a drive (or hike if we had the time) up to Mount Battie for views of the area. This was absolutely worth it! We would have loved to hike, but our time here is limited and we were keen to cover as much ground as ...

The morning was just a bit cloudy as we left for the Maine Lighthouse Museum in Rockland. When we arrived we heard a fascinating talk by a former keeper of Owl’s Head Lighthouse. It was so interesting to learn about life at a lighthouse first-hand! We followed that with a docent-led tour through the lighthouse museum. There we learned about ...

... house trailer - with a single window where you both place and receive your order. Opened in Boothbay in 1938, it moved to the north end of Wiscasset in 1954, where it has since become a summertime legend. Many people believe that here is the best lobster roll anywhere: Heaps of meat from at least one whole one-pound lobster is extracted in great hunks and piled into a toasted split-top bun that is accompanied by drawn butter or, if ...
