Reminds me a lot of Southampton.. with a Pier! lol

... I even saw a picture of the bathing compartments pulled by horses into the water so people could swim without anyone seeing them in their swimmers. I'm presuming it was for the women! I also presume their swimmers were neck to ankle... lol what would they think these days!!

I was going to have lunch on the pier but they weren't selling any food.. ah well you can't have it all your own way!

A cute stopover

... a lot to see when your on them.

So we decided on a next stop as Lyme Regis on the South Coast to break up our journey back to London. It's a nice place at the start of the Jurassic Coast which we did not have time to explore. Kim impressively went for a morning run even though it was rainy and windy and I stayed tucked up in bed!

Weekend in Caravan...

... the train station, Hannah got questioned about her age, because she is so tall everyone thinks she is older than 15! On the way Jane had texted us to say that there had been a mix up with the caravan and we would be staying in a tent! Hannah was horrified.. so was I.. its still a bit chilly in the evenings!! lol

But all was good, our tent turned out to be a very large caravan.. more like a permanent van, three bedrooms and I think slept ...

Leaving Art & Thurza

... I went to the Haynes Motor Museum at Sparkford, great few hours including a smashing lunch and back to Yeovil to pick up the ladies at the appointed time of 3.30 pm.

Tuesday dawned rather foggy and overcast, probably our worst day yet. Lona wanted to go to Lyme Regis to find a model dog for Kim. One time we were here before we bought her a Boxer, so this time Lona wanted Schnauzer, to no avail, there were none ...

FIRST MAJOR CAMP AFTER NO FIXED ABODE

... rain but we all had fun. The day we went to Monkey World was a really nice day weather wise and we all enjoyed it. Jody, Marice, Emily, Ryan, and Isabelle gave Dee an Orangutan adoption for his birthday, it was Joly a baby around 4 years old, Dee was thrilled and managed to meet Joly to say hello albeit through the viewing glass but it was fun, and it will be good to keep up with Joly's progress. I am sure we will be going back for another ...

A Break in Proceedings

... to raise the money, and they will need to commit immediately to stand any chance of getting a Sudan visa. It's a tall order for anyone. I tried straight away to contact Nadia by every means I could think of. No joy. Next on the list, Simon. I got hold of him but he started a new job a few weeks ago. He said if I had asked 3 weeks before he would definately have come. I was hoping Ami was going to raise lots of money, but now I was just intent on filling ...

Financial Wizardry

... s always wanted to do one. I'll bet his sponsorship raising skills and opportunities are better than mine. He may not be able to make the trip, but I think he is going to be a valuable assistant. So, the money is rolling in. I must admit I was rather concerned when the bill arrived about where the funds would come from initially, I could see a cashflow issue developing. It seems that we'll make the £2000 by Monday.

... nearly 40 years!

We decide that rather than take our car again, we would go by rail. This would then compell us to continue by rail and other public transport methods. We chose to go on a Great Rail Journey with the company of the same name. Taking the Glacier Exprees package choice we set off for Waterloo Station in London, from our local station at Yeovil Junction early on a late June morning.

This is the story of that trip, its sights and its 'wonders' !!!

Off to Switzerland

... into my little shop and chatted about having lived in Switzerland and about what we had missed! He invited me to borrow his videos showing the Swiss Railways systems in all their glory. From then on we were compelled one day to go back !

So this is the travelog of our return to Switzerland after nearly 40 years!
