    ... has plenty of shade, however, the shade does not do a lot with the 100 degree/humid days. We saw the University of Southern Mississippi. A pretty campus that also is the beginning of the Longleaf Trace bike trail. We started out early and rode 20 miles. The trail was well shaded. The first 10 miles were up hill, which made the ten miles back a dream.

    We are headed out for New Orleans in the morning! ...

    ... myself with my own ability, its surprising how much you are capable of when you actually push yourself to the limit.

    During pre-season coach also gave us a day off! which is rare and awesome! We all went canoeing/ rafting in the Okatoma team bonding! Kayla and I made it through the whole course without tipping, and I accidentally tipped my friends boat over trying to rescue them.

    Aside from the awesome training's and hanging out ...

    ... 2nd time I have visited here and I had forgotten just how big the park is... but more importantly I had forgotten how well marked it is - there are markers EVERYWHERE in this place - you can't spit without hitting a marker. It was actually one of the parks formed soon after the civil war, when many of the soldiers that fought were still alive, and nearly every spot has a plaque for some regiment or general! Then the memorials, statues, etc are countless... ...

    ... done that, and upon seeing that the next few days were going to bring coastal storms, let's head north and go visit Vicksburg, site of the second most important US Civil War battle.

    Hi All, While I hadn't planned on writing a blog for this road trip,Linda inspired me to write about this part of the country that Steve and I, nor many others, have visited. Our plan is once leaving our wonderful son, and family, we will visit the Smokey Mountains, Nashville, Memphis, Branson, MI and then Little Rock, Arkansas before dropping off the car in Dallas and flying home. So after a great 5 days ...
