Time to get to work

... TravelPod" is a complete pain in the a@$ to use. For our 2010 "Radical Sabbatical" trip to Asia, I'm switching to another web service.

But, I've promised myself that I'll update this blog before we leave Naples...

Moral: Don't Let Ash Fall on You!

Ola Kala: simply, OK (in Greek). No time for lots of flap.....we're on the go. The Vatican Museums await us (and we can hardly wait to do more walking!). Enjoy the pictures and we'll fill you in on the adventure next time I make the time to sit and gab.

We're still having a grand time!!!!!

... half of the ruins, but saw some really amzing stuff.
Pity we couldn't get into the large arena as it was blocked off and looked really impressive from what we could see from the outside.

Naples - best place in Italy so far...

... 6 or 7 music stores in 1 block- one of which had guitars, lutes and other stringed instruments dating back to the late 1800's.

Also discovered that the food options in Naples are a lot better than northern Italy with a lot more meat based snacks and fried snacks available to eat whilst wandering the streets.
No wonder northern Italians are so skinny and short - their food options for decent snacks are so limited compared to the south ...

Amalfi

... told me it was not to be missed and well worth the E2.50 admission. They were so right. I wondered around inside using my guide pamphlet to help me understand all I was seeing. The complex of the cathedral includes the "Cloister of Paradise", the Basilica of the Crucifix, which houses the museum, the Crypt of St. Andrew, and the Cathedral. If I were to describe this in one phrase it would be a garden ...

Day trip to Amalfi and Positano

... and in the top 10 of white-knuckle drives (scarier than ****). We literally crawled off the bus and got our legs under us, we both looked at each other and said "No freakin way are we getting back on that bus. Where is the ferry?" We immediately bought our ferry tickets for our return to Sorrento as well as the one to drop us to Positano which we had missed earlier! We were not getting back on the bus today. We wandered around Amalfi and grabbed a quick drink ...

Capri sucks....and Amalfi Rocks!

... the world. And I mean THE BEST. She also manages to fill these amazing croissants with this cool apricot jam. Yum. Anyways, things turned out ok. Tomorrow Im off to explore Northern Italy and meeting Emily up in Cinque Terre. She asked if I was beached out but how could I be beached out?? Im on vacation and nothing spells vacation like a day on the beach. Wish me luck dealing with sketchy Naples and the trains again......

Amalfi, Amalfi, Amore!

... Irish, God love 'em. With closing time impending, we made the familiar walk back down through Amalfi, not before Brooks ordered a fairly bland midnight pizza at the only open haunt in town. Waved to Cassanova having a drink at a nearby cafe, and saw Willy zip by on his Vespa in search for food, no doubt well over the limit. Church bells tolled in the town square of Atrani as we hit the hay for another night. It seemed that two night here wasn't going to cut the mustard either.

The Very Winding Road to Amalfi

... the hotel, made all the more interesting - and dangerous - by roadworks. The traffic was being stopped and let through one lane at a time, but scooters were zooming up the sides and one car was about to overtake the whole line of traffic till he realised what was going on. Horns were blaring; they don't seem to like stopping for any reason. We had to cross the road and walk on a non-existent footpath for ...
