Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France inea34... 8217;s getting late into the Fall. However wonderful it is, the heavy evening dews may actually be worse than England’s rain for putting away a tent. Completely wet inside from condensation in the cool night air, as well as wet outside from the dew, we are always packing a soaked tent. That and the mosquitos are ever-present again. Just had to add a few negatives so all my Canadian friends burried under snow don't get too jealous ;)

Vic-la-Gardiole, Languedoc-Roussillon, France 2totango... nice because I hadn't seen him in a while. Clement is the closest thing I have to a real childhood friend (sorry Tim, but we met when we were 12 so you are my real teenagehood friend, okay?) from elementary school. His father owns a restaurant in town so we'd have a blast eating and drinking there for free. We caught up on so much lost time and reminsced about the things we'd do when we were kids. I think that every time we see each other we ...
Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France jdcabanelWhat a waste of a day...

Go to Nimes and the national parks people said..... we ended up at a campsite way out of Montpellier and the highlight of our day had been the supermarket!!!!

The national park was lots of farm type marsh land... not what we had imagined. Nimes seemed pretty and lots of well preserved Roman things but the traffic was a nightmare and too hard to park so we kept driving with a plan to go out in Montpellier that ...
Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France emmasadventures... since Susan and Brett last visited, but at €18.00 each, plus wine and wonderful coffee, it is extraordinary value.

Alison sat outside with one of the waiters while I paid the bill, and explained that we were from Nouvelle Zelande. The waiter replied that there had been two people from New Zealand having lunch the day before and several the previous week. So the word must have got around. Next time we might have to reserve.

Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France cerise... of the name. It is made in caves that were naturally created in the town millions of years ago when a mountainside basically collapsed creating naturally ventilated caves with a very specific temperature and humidity level essential for the acculturation of Roquefort cheese. Because production only takes place from December through June we were not treated to the all-powerful smell the village is said to possess when approaching it from the outside! We went on a tour ...
Montpellier, Languedoc-Roussillon, France gracielastanley... hot. Gerda had a mussel and pasta dish. I had a hot goats cheese salad, not very much goats cheese. The land after Carcassonne was pretty flat, with hills in the distance, and lots of sunflower fields, some apple orchards, some covered in nets. After lunch we spilt up, Gerda and Jan-Erik did a fast walk through town while Peter and I did a slow meander. The Castle and town is still fascinating, but so many more restaurants ...
Montpellier, France friiskiwi... is great. The temperature hasnt been less than 50 degrees farenheight. Its certainly warmer than NY! My studies began yesterday (Jan 29) at IEFE (Institute for the Study of French for Foreigners). The classes are hard, but that will be good for me. Last night I studied for 3 hour after classes. Studying isnt bad because I like the things I'm learning. I really want to be fluent when I get back to NY. My teacher is very nice and I like her. Thats important because ...
Montpellier, France stephiesteph... the map and told me it wasn't open until, you guessed it, MONDAY! Utterly broken, I decided that all I wanted was to get out of the rain, change my socks, warm up with some hot soup and give myself a chance to think. So I took shelter in one of the local cafes, and to my shegrin discovered they only served crepes. Stuck on the hot soup idea, I went next door, where surly they would serve soup, but no. After scoping all of the menus in the square and concluding that the ...
