Knights Inn Niagara Falls Ny

At last we think we have figured out this trip. We will leave Buffalo and head to Barcelona for a few days. Then we will get ourselves to London for our flight to Mumbai. After a short while in Mumbai we are heading south to Panaji, Old Goa and the coast where we will spend considerable time. About a month or so later it's back to London ...

... to cross. No wonder so many people have died trying to climb under the bridge. And I always thought it was to enter illegally but obviuosly they ahve also had enough of the tolls too.

Anyway we got through and then headed for Buffalo which took approx 40 mins to drive to and then another 30 to park the car in someones yard for $15.

... They alternate between white and colored lights which really highlight the viewing. We tried to take heaps of pics, but the new camera is a little above our ability at this stage. We decided to return back to the hotel at about 11pm as it was 0 degrees and both out hands were numb.

I quickly called Tom to get some tips for the camera settings....hopefully I can work something out!!!!

Sacked it at about 02:00.

The falls were falling all right - especially when illuminated with changing lights at night. Las-Vegas-By-The-Falls (a.k.a Niagara Falls town) was a bit of a surprise - definitely an American import, but Canadian version was somewhat less boring and tasteless than original US one

Eventually got checked in to the hostel at Buffalo hours after my arrival on Sunday – the afternoon shift person didn't turn up so only had time to grab something to eat before settling down for the night in my top bunk, a bit of a change from the night before!
On Monday I spent the day at Niagara Falls – I even had time to nip over to the Canadian side of the falls for an hour or so. Fortunately coming back ...

... seats/beds. I hope it's like that on most trains. Tonight I'm taking the night train from buffalo to Chicago and tommorow a two-night train to Seattle. Niagara Falls is great, although I could only see it from the U.S side and the Canadian side is the place to be. But I still got some quite good pictures. Now I'm sitting in the park just 20 m from the falls as I'm writing this. Have to leave soonro grab my bags and take a bus to Buffalo and then the train.

... we get a raincoat and a special pair of shoes. It was raining that day, so we were glad to have the logo-ed trash bags to keep us a little dryer. We were warned pretty sternly that anything that was not covered by the rain gear would get wet.....very wet. We all tied our trash bags around our lower legs, pulled up our jeans to the knees, put on our special shoes on before we were allowed to take an elevator ride down to Bridal ...

... then took a walk around the American Niagara to find it was more dismal than we saw as we drove in! 50% of the shops were boarded up and there wasn't a soul in the streets - the only busy place was a huge new casino ...

... shop about 100m up the road from where we stayed. We quickly grabbed our things and flagged down a taxi in the parking lot. He knew exactly where the greyhound leaves from in Niagara and can take us straight there. Where was he this morning when we were directed by three other people and a taxi to go here? Anyway it was a flat rate to Buffalo and it is much more likely there are more buses there so I got out the wallet and hoped we haven't missed the last bus from ...

... is the main street, filled with little boutiques etc. We couldn't resist the temptation to gorge ourselves on the locally made cakes and fudge and felt very sick after the event. The day passed very quickly and it was soon time to retire to Gunters palace of 70's memorabilia. The next day we set of in search of some Kyaking. We had heard from the locals in Orillia that there was a lot to be found just West of where we were so of we went. Looking ...
