... So in I plunged and quickly found that there were just clothes. Then I noticed it was two levels so down I went into the basement. As some of you know, today didn't really work out like I planned. I spent 7 hours on a train to Limoges in order to go from there to a little village called Oradour sur Glane. In order to keep myself from getting confused I have been looking at my itinerary in depth only the day before. Off to Angouleme. The cathedral was disappointing. Very sanitised. Modernised unsympathetically. Modern glass and painted walls! The town / city was pretty horrible too - grey, dirty and busy. We didn't enjoy the place, but at least we had a good night.

Left Arromanches about 9.30am and drive through Bayeux onto Rennes where we lunched at the Golden Arches, purely because they had the convenience of food and toilets at the same venue.
After lunch we continued on, mostly on the motorway, however Madam Navman did lead us astray every now and then and we did drive through some small villages and countryside as we tried to skirt around the bigger cities.
