... and Ella made fantastic
nurses, caring for me whilst I lay in bed for 2 days. We were meant
to stay for 2 weeks here, but there was quite a bit of sickness in
the house and we didn't want Ella falling to it so we said our
goodbyes. Rather sad as we had just settled in and Ella really didn't
want to leave her friends. Petra gave Ella a lovely set of Dominoes
and we got a big bottle of fresh milk to take with us. Yummo!
We have been four nights in possibly the best hotel so far, a real home stay with home cooked meals and a four room apartment all for us. The place has beautiful stone buildings and is 100% quiet at night.
We have been to Bergerac (vineyard visit, wine tasting), a wild boar farm, a duck farm (we watched uncomfortably as a goose received the 'gavage' force feeding treatment), a place where you can see 14,000 cave drawings! and this afternoon ...
... of the gitte we are staying, Mike & Linda. Was a very pleasant afternoon. Back to Leo & Lennie's for a great dinner. Sad to say farewell to Leo & Lennie after they have been such great hosts and we thank them for that but we have to move on. Travis wants to stay but not possible. Got lost one last time on the way back but we're sure if we had stayed another night we would have gotten it right. Off to Salart then Rocamadour tomorrow.
... s to the beach of Chatelaillon. To say the kids were disappointed in the beach was an understatement. Tide was out and water was around 150 metres away. This left mainly mud between the sand and the water. Travis tried to walk it but kept getting stuck. Not what they expected. ... but again with narrow streets, an old abbey and bridge. Alice tells me I have to say it's the oldest bell tower in France. So I've said it. Most of the shops closed as it's Monday. Love the French. Back at Leo's for a baked dinner and a few drinks. Off on a long trip to the coast, La Rochelle, tomorrow & kids are looking forward to seeing a beach. Told them not to be to ...
