... have 'statues in Carrara marble' above their portals; Loredana tells us that that there are 400 such carvings in the city. Over the centuries most of the palazzos have been repurposed and there are incongruities. We find an elaborate Adoration of the Magi relief over the door of a tobacco shop and a marble nymph bathing in an alcove at the rear of a small department store. San Lorenzo, the Lombard Gothic Duomo, of striped marble ...

    ... well spent.

Whilst we know many of our friends have visited Cinque Terre and enjoyed the experience, for us we considered it to be overrated and really hard work. We found the Camogli & Portafino region to be far more beautiful and enjoyable (and less crowded).

In the morning, I swam about half an hour in the sea when Jim was preparing his motorcycle and get the tent in the correct way in his bag. Afterwards, we needed approximately 1,5h to get out of Genova as we lost the correct road. Then we past a ...

The day started with entering Italy ... and what a difference with France ... We can still see the sun shining on the sea, there are still beautiful mountains and fields, we are still driving on 2 perfect motorbikes but ... the drivers in Italy are crazy! We have seen at least 7 ambulances and I am not surprised. There are always 2 roads, one in each direction, but between the cars, on the white line, are driving the vespas and motorbikes, in every direction! Crazy! They are driving ...
