We booked with Desafio and for $32 we got transportation to and from, all day access (but only one transport up and down per day) and a dinner with starter, entree and dessert. I had steak and it was awesome. The water pools had varying temperatures, it wasn't overly busy and the water slides were a blast.

Very useful to stay in a hotel with hot springs and drinks at reasonable prices being served inside the pool. The room is simple but nice. The outdoor part of the hotel is huge and green with many options to entertain tourists from frogs, to crocodiles. It was a pleasant stay.

This is an amazing resort. The geothermal pools were fabulous; although we used them excessively, we never became inured to the pleasure we felt. There was so much to do there. We did hikes, rented an ATV and enjoyed the food both at the resort & the surrounding area.

Happy birthday Momma! But I think we might need an arc to get out of here cause it hasn't stopped raining at all. This morning as we get ready to go the guide Pamela gives us the heads up that if the roads are too bad we might have to walk for portions of the trip and if it's really bad carry our luggage too. Not a problem with me except that I'm a …

... it breaks. Luckily I had bought my other camera but just means I can't get this one wet :( The others came back and we headed to the activities office to book what we wanted to do for the next day. Loads of them opted for canyoning and again not my thing so me and sasha chose a volcano walk and then in the evening we all decided to book to go to the hot springs. Can't wait to try those. The journey awaits ...

... was not on a sealed road and it wound it's way up, down and around this very rugged landscape. It reminded us of the more remote parts of New Zealand, very steep pastureland for cattle with low clouds and a good dose of rain thrown in to make the grass green. We could feel a drop in the temperature too, not so much that we needed a jumper - more that it was a bit more comfortable.

We arrived in Santa Elena but the road remained unsealed until ...

preservation and after seeing the large amounts of fruit rotting under trees I
suggested a workshop on food preservation and canning. Augusto loves the idea!
Fruit trees often have all their fruit ripen in a short period of time and
without food preservation skills much of this crop goes to waste. I will be
