... I'm still very confused as to how they stay up there and don't plummet to their deaths. Snowshoeing proved to be a super fun experience with a heavy reliance on balance, which apparently I don't have too much of. ... found a bakery where I rewarded my success with a "pain au chocolat" and waited until I saw the others return so we could get back on the bus for the two hour ride back.

Let me just take this moment to say thanks to all the good bus drivers out there, especially in France. It just amazes me sometimes how we made it up and down those hairpin turns and parked 1 foot from another bus.

... br> At the end of the afternoon, when we arrived back at the hotel I was totally exhausted, every movement costed me more energy than usual. apparently I have some problems with the thin air here at 2300 meter above Sea level.

... your name in very small print on the other. My jacket like most has a small zip pocket on the left sleeve to hold this card and when I collected it I folded the ski run map into the same pocket. You tend to then forget about it and just extend your arm towards the scanner to activate the system. I never really looked at the map as we generally went as a group with our guide Ludo and I just tagged along.

As we had various skill levels the "racing snakes" took off immediately to hit the fastest runs leaving we mere mortals to flounder across to the beginner slopes to either gain or relearn forgotten skiing skills. Well that was a lot of laughs all round, almost everyone but Rowan had SOME snow experience but he took to the snowboard like a champ from the very first day. Peter joined him on the snowboard and in spite of NO lessons did a good job ...
