RESORT
The last time I was in Cabo was about 8 years ago. As we drove to our resort, I noticed a lot more has been develped since then. Luxurious residential communities, big shopping plazas complete with Office Depot and Costco. It took just under an hour to get to our destination. The resort area was breathtaking. Driving down the beautifully landscaped road, we ...

The Road South for the Summer

... We took time in the morning to explore the area before heading out on June 6.

We had filled up in Ensenada before leaving, so when we got to Catavina we had three-eighths of a tank; perfect, or so we thought until the only pumps in town were out (service and gas). Fortunately, we were able to purchase five gallons for 36 pesos a gallon, not bad considering. We stayed at Rancho Santa ...

Our boat trip on the Caborey

We spent most of the day Monday on our day trip on the Caborey boat. WE took a bus to downtown Cabo and boarded the boat. We got to play games...go snorkeling...and do a little drinking and eating, as well as see WHALES and such. We got to see a couple different sets of whales...my favorite being the mom and its baby. We went snorkeling for a bit, but the water was cold. Then I ...

Arriving in Cabo San Lucas

... escaping the gauntlet of time-share sharks; we were not going to just believe that Expedia would refund our pre-paid transfers upon our return to the states. So after much bickering and many phone calls to various levels of management to the transportation company, we were sure that the only way we would be getting to our hotel would be to find our ...

Ensenada Day Trip

... docked at 8am. Not sure what happened, but needless to say, with all the other "cruisers" we could not spot our beloved friends. We even went so far as to walk the strip calling out "Carolyn?"...."Jouni?"...."Where are you?". Unfortunately there was never a reply. We checked back into the port several times but never did get to see them. We'll catch you next time guys, next time. In between stops to the ...

La Bufadora

... opening in the cliff side above the ocean. When La Bufadora goes off there is a spout of misty water along with a thunderous noise. Check out the video....pretty cool stuff. There is a legend about La Bufadora as well, that claims a baby whale entered the underwater cave more than a century ago. He spent the night in the cave and the next day had grown too big to exit the cave again. It claims the spray of water is from the ...

Tales from the Baja

... all the adults got together on our boat which was very enjoyable. The next day we left for Peurto Magdalena, a small town in the huge Magdalena bay. WE stopped here only to take on fuel before the next passage to Cabo. We heard from a friend on the radio that the port captain sometimes has fuel, so Scott decided to call him on the radio. He asked about fuel, in Spanish, of course, and the captain replied "uno momento" and then there was silence- we thought maybe he was looking ...

Successful Border Crossing at Mexicali

... the Volunteer Fire departemnt bake sale back home. The Lord had spoken....the rest is history- the boy "Lucas" who ran up to greet us is the grandson of Lucas the founder of Rancho Sordo Mudo. His dad is now the director of the school where there are currently 31 students ages 6-18. This is the abbreviated version but suffice to say we are more than happy we stopped here and definitely received more than we gave... thanks for lookin'

Cooking up a storm in Mexico

... husk and steam it for two hours. Devine. My FAVOURITE Mexican food. I also learned that the Mexicans eat dried meat - similar to biltong and make Mochaka. Fine biltong strips with onion, tomato and chilli. Use this as a tortilla filling. Well Maria entertained me to no end. We spend two days cooking in the kitchen ( typically Morgan ) and learning Spanish. To Maria and Patricia at El Sauzel, Thank you so much for all my Spanish and Cooking lessons.

Cabo Wabo

Today our port was Cabo San Lucas. Had to take these little boats (tenders) from the ship to the dock. There was a flea market right when we got off so did some shopping, took our picture with an iguana. :) From there we got on a catamaran and went snorkeling in a secluded cove. Wow, was that fun. Saw some fish, which was a little creepy. Looked down into the deep blue sea, which ...
