... s festivities, people cued to get into any and all restaurants and bars. How strange, I thought, that these people would rather be here than at the marveled Oktoberfest just a short walk away. Later that night, however, I would understand (more than likely it was because they were bone sober and couldn't handle it).

Anyway, we longed to find any light on in a shop, any open door ushering us in to try our luck in finding the perfect outfit. Of ...

Goodbye Austria and hello Germany. On out way out of Austria we stop at the Mauthausen concentration camp for a sombering visit. We wander through the camp checking out what the conditions were like. We walk down to the bottom of the rock quarry where the prisoners were forced to work and where the majority of them died from exhaustion. It was good to visit considering how much of an impact the war had on pretty much every place we have visited ...

At the station, we know they have a Euraide which is an English window to help us figure out how to navigate around Munich. We find out about all this cool help ...

... was on the drunk side after quickly finishing my stein and on a high from having a conversation with our first friend on the trip. We walked around and I giggled and took everything in a little bit differently now that beer was coursing through my veins. I stopped to think…did my ancestors come here? What did they think of Oktoberfest? What would they think of my tipsy self right now? Are they looking down on me and shaking their head or raising a stein to celebrate? What ...

... budget today but it was well worth it- we had soooo much fun!

After nearly five hours of dancing on tables and benches, singing songs and Paul losing count of the beers drunk we decided to call it a night. Before we left we had a go at the dodgem cars which was much more aggressive than I remembered it to be, a toffee apple and a maccas run ;) great day!!

On our second day in Munich we walked around the town and took in the gorgeous architecture. ...
