Day 4: Nikko - Temples and Shrines
... Hope you guys are enjoying the read. I noticed the blogs are getting longer and longer so i'll try to cut out some fluff and as Sam would say my "creepy" behaviour/jokes. Oh and thanks for leaving the comments they were a great read. Haven't had a chance to reply to them yet but I've read them all...so i'm currently working on a way to lock Sam out of the blog so he can no longer post inappropriate comments. The real Shogun
... An item of interest at Toshogu is The Sacred Stable. Horses were dedicated to Shinto gods and were housed at shrines. Monkeys were also kept at shrines, the idea being that they protected horses from disease. Anyway, carved above the stable door at The Sacred Stable I was surprised to find those three famous monkeys -- see, hear, and speak no evil.

Japan On Ice
As a bleeding-from-the-eyes, die-hard Canadian hockey fanatic, you probably wouldn't lie awake at night dreading the next encounter with the Japanese National Ice Hockey Team, but we were somewhat surprised to learn that Japan has 4 teams in the Asian Ice Hockey League. Day trip to Nikko
... It's an area of Tokyo that is popular with Otaku (geeks) and is also where you will find the famous "Maid Cafes". There were many Japanese girls dressed in maid outfits stood out on the street, handing out flyers and trying to convince you to come into their cafe. To be honest, it was a little bit weird.
After dinner in Akihabara, I finally returned to my hostel to get a good nights sleep in preparation for my last (and very busy) day in Tokyo.
