Flew into London on thursday night feeling pretty exhausted. But thankfully in my prepared state I had booked an airport transfer to my hostel, which after 2 hours of boarder security I was congratulating myself on my planning. So this weekend I went to London and had a reunion with three of my Fordham friends who are all also studying abroad. I left my house on Friday at 7:15 in the morning and walked in the wind and rain to the bus station. I was completely soaked and disgusting when I got there 20 minutes later. So we made the 8 hour flight from ORD to LON without incident. The takeoff was perhaps one of the most interesting I've ever experienced, with the 747 climbing gingerly away from O'hare while odd oscillations slowly damped out within the fuselage. London is an amazing city. Everything seems quite old with a layer of modern convenience worked firmly into the city's structure. The tube is an excellent means of transit, but quite expensive. Busses are cheaper, but are driven much in the manner of a NYC cabbie, which can be quite thrilling from the upper level of the double-deckers, especially at 4AM, which is when the late busses end and the morning busses begin.
