... Oh, and the other big excitment of today was that I have discovered that I can yell much louder than I have previously realized. So, every now and then I just let out a really loud scream, my mom says that my Uncle Fredrick does the same thing sometimes...I think I'm gonna like him! Well, that is the news of the day, mom and dad say that we are getting close to the final destination, so that is exciting, I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!
Calgary, Alberta, Canada matt~becca... a bad place to hunker down or hang out. Not bad at all. So for now, I will continue with my frenzied last minute preparations and will be out of touch for a couple of days until that plane touches down on the other side of the world. Thank you for all of the well wishes and fond farewells, I am a lucky girl. The stories will be on their way shortly... I can' wait!!! xoxo
Calgary, Alberta, Canada janice21I've just discovered this travel blog tonight after playing Traveller's IQ by travelpod.com and figured it'd be a nice way of keeping everyone posted on my trip to Hong Kong since it seems a lot of people wants to see what I'm up to while I'm away. So here goes... hopefully you can see this through facebook. Well, it's 1am in Calgary, my flight leaves in 5.5hrs, my taxi is coming in less than 3hrs and I have yet to pack for my four week ...
Calgary, Alberta, Canada billy.chanWe left Golden in the morning and headed for Lake Louise, a really pretty lake and very popular with the tourists! We then headed on to Calgary and braved the city to pick up tickets for the parade the next day and for the rodeo and chuckwagons at the Clgary Stampede the day after. A very crowded and busy city this week with the Stampede drawing hundreds of thousands of people to town. We headed for our next hosts vowing to avoid ...
Calgary, Alberta, Canada chrisl34Max and I finally got 2 days off together and headed to Calgary for a couple of days on Wednesday. Caught the greyhound bus in the morning for the couple hour trip, naturally I slept a little.... Once we got there we figured out the c-train to the hostel and checked in. Wow wee did we have a bit of a smelly room....hmmm, the joys of hostel accommodation. Other than that, I guess it was nice enough. We headed to the Chinook ...
Calgary, Alberta, Canada vhenschke... snowboard, numerous bags of shopping and our luggage. Oblivious to the fact that the actual bus station part closed at 6pm we turned up at around 6.10pm to wait it out for the bus.... At least we found it amusing that we would have to wait for over an hour outside while it was snowing with our hideous amounts of baggage!! (there was undercover shelter for our stuff). I have decided that the vast majority of Canadians are really lovely! That night ...
Calgary, Banff and Panorama Mountain Village, Alberta, Canada vhenschke... cash at the front desk of your hotel when possible. Carry a photocopy of your passport with you when out and about, this should suffice in most situations. When leaving cash count it at the desk, have the staff member count it as well and sign for what you are placing into their safe. When it is returned to you count it once more with the staff member. We found all contacts on this tour very trustworthy and we did not worry about bags in our rooms ...
Calgary, Alberta, Canada indianajillToday Jenni and i awoke at 4.30am and hailed a taxi to take us to the Vancouver airport. The flight to Calgary was pretty standard and uneventful although once we arrived it was a nightmare to get to our accommodation, a bed and breakfast in the city centre. It took us three hours to get from the airport to the b n b - we caught a bus, train, walked then taxi!!! All the time with our heavy backpacks and the even hotter weather here in Alberta. We recovered then headed ...
Calgary, Alberta, Canada nadinesreprieve... I had a Croatia "flashback" moment while de-boarding the plane (see blog entitled "Dubrovnik: Worth a second look!" http://www.travelpod.com/travel-blog-en tries/pwong/europe_2006/1157363160/tpod .html?tweb_UID=pwong ). I waited in my seat for Tam (stuck in the back again) as the cute brunette that took my seat walked by. I checked her out in a very obvious manner - her friend was several steps behind and totally busted me. She gave me a funny look and all I ...
Calgary, Alberta, Canada pwong... back a few weeks and I've already needed to be slapped on more than one occasion! Many people have asked me what the highlights of the trip were, and what I will miss most about Europe. In the spirit of the new, ever-so-slightly optimistic me, I will present the highlights first, with the best highlights at the top of the list. The Highlights: 1) The way Isabel shyly looked away when she said "Of course I do!" in response to me saying "You probably don't remember me, but I was ...
