Sobering news on the beer front

... industries were heavily pursued. But like the first batch of overseas listed companies, when the slowdown of China's economy threw many infrastructure builders into losses, the second wave shrank. A Grey Day At The Beach

... nice'. In fact this total lack of English in Qingdao leads to the incredibly amusing shirts I have seen on my travels. Whilst noone seems to speak the language - it is still tres cool to wear the language and so every person between 0 and 35yrs of age wears shirts emblazoned with rampant, unintelligible English words: 'Rock in fashion: Don't be scared'. Every tenth shirt actually makes some sense so you'll see a 20something boy proudly wearing ...

Our Students (a long one)

They aren't given syllabi because the teachers can't prepare them because the administration doesn't decide when the days off will be until later or what the tests are to be like until a couple weeks beforehand. Much of everything here is on the fly. And that's the way Natalie and I have learned to teach: off the cuff, improv. We've learned to be entertainers, comedians, clowns, babysitters, and disciplinarians. We've learned that even though the kids, our ...

The Stone Dragon: China's Great Wall

Most riders were going pretty slow, we decided that it wasn't worth the money to ride a slow, yet potentially dangerous luge. At the top, the Wall abruptly greeted us in 25 foot enormity. Thick grey rectangled stones mortared together with a mixture of lime and glutinous rice stand imposing against the beautiful mountain scene on either ...
