    ... to keep their charm despite being loved to death by hoards of visitors. It is unlikely we will return - there are still too many places on our list of "must sees".

    Our journey today crossed 3 states - started in North Carolina, broke for lunch in Virginia and ended in Maryland. Not much of note except for the Chesapeake Bay Bridge - Tunnel. Not very visually exciting but a major feat ...

    8/28/15- Friday

    Broke camp and enjoyed the ride across the 17 mile Chesapeake Bay Bridge & Tunnel. The bridge is 23 miles long and the tunnel goes from 25' to 100' deep. The weather was perfect and the 3 hour trip was easy to our new campsite at Ft. Whaley, Whaleyville, MD. We stayed here 3 years ago with grandsons, Austin & Cory.

    The Conaway's and the Beauchamp's left Stockton, MD at 5 p.m. and the Porter's fell in the convoy in Snow Hill. We traveled to Cumberland , MD and slept in a Walmart lot. This night start enabled us to avoid the morning work traffic from the Bay Bridge north. 281 miles traveled.

    ... built just for him. A hat was placed on his head and a live crab thrown on his lap. He had become quite the spectacle. What a juxtaposition from the beauty he was just part of!     ... Reservations should be made for the summer season but they are not site specific. This is a beautiful island with a beautiful beach that stretches on the southeast side from one tip to the other. Construction work is going on for some of the restrooms and the completion date is expected around Memorial Day. The bathrooms are very clean and the hosts helpful.
