Friday, July 31, 2015. PCT day 103. Miles 1662-1682.8 JenRaffe and I were up by 4am and hiking by 5am. We had about a mile road walk before hiking on trail. By 5:45 there was enough light to be able to see the poison ivy and oak. There was too much of it that it was annoying. JenRaffe was falling behind but I pushed on. After 10 miles and ...

We were keeping a good pace. I even woke up at 5:30am and was hiking by 7:00 Occasionally I was doing 3.5 miles per hour. The trail passed through many burned areas and skirted lakes. With a many marble rocks on the ground and huge towering marble mountains, its apparent why they call this place ...

... seeing more and more incredible scenery. We rounded a bend and BANG! There it was, Majestic Mt. Shasta, standing tall and snow capped. Like I said before, when your planning your routes you don't always think about the terrain and what it will offer up. I can't imagine living near that beautiful mountain and seeing it everyday.

The closer we got to Redding the prettier the scenery was. The views of the mountain, the wooded valleys and Lake Shasta were all ...

... and it was pretty nice. For most of the morning, say like 8:00-10:00, we filled out paperwork for the two clinics that we will work at, in order to fill out our clinical rotation hours. Finally, we started to learn about being an EMT and what the first steps one does, at an emergency. After lunch at 12, where a few of us threw ...
