... for the next 100 years the trees were protected at all costs from fire. Through research and experience they realized their intentions though good, kept the trees from their natural reproduction cycle. The fire clears away the competing firs and cedars and exposes bare mineral soil for the tiny seedlings to take root.
What an amazing day! There is nothing on this earth that rivals the majesty revealed in and around the mountains!

Dinner at the hotel was much improved over the night before. At least the hot food was hot. We had salad, chicken, potatoes and green beans and cheesecake for dessert.
We viewed a DVD about Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Parks and then it was time to turn in. The next day we would head to Yosemite, our major goal for this trip!
