While in the Polish part of the Tatry you can hike any time of the year, in the Slovakian one there are more restrictions. Between October and May, entering the Slovakian Tatra National Park is prohibited. As far as tthe Polish Tatra National Park, the rescue team always displays a note both in each mountain hostel and at every entrance to the park about the level of the avalanche danger.

One night we decided to make use of the sauna in Magnolia - it seemed like the best idea in the world when we were skiing that day but when we actually went into the sauna later than night it was so boiling hot we could barely stay in there longer than 5 minutes and it was booked for half an hour. After just two full weeks back at school after the Easter break I found myself in the fortunate position of figuring out what to do with another three day holiday. The May long weekend was ************g weekend though, and the people who drew up our school calendar needed a good talking to as the break was on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There was a heavy fog, and it was getting colder, so it was not worth the current walk, but I knew it'd be a big accomplishment.
